Allying with factions. - by 242

As far as I know without any mod it's possible to become a member of Freedom.
Known effects: bandits and mercenaries become neutrals (which make garbage much more friendly place :) ), scientists and Duty become enemies .
What I don't know is how many ways for allying with the faction exists and what other bonuses are (free armour, access to closed earlier for non-members areas ?)
Few mods give ability also ally with Duty (they just enable the possibility, which was initially designed by devs). If anyone tried that please report what the effects and bonuses are.
Also, there were stories about allying with Monolith, but then devs told that allying with them isn't possible.
PS: By allying I mean not just when neutrals (yellow) become friends (green), but when your faction status changes in PDA. To be just a friend or a member of a faction are different things.

So if you side with freedom the scientists become enemies? What, all two of them? I wonder why this wasn't fully implemented in the game...

I don't know how many of them is in the game (I yet have to see them, it's just known fact to me), but main bad thing is that Freedom become enemies. I wonder what's better - to have a possibility to freely roam about the Garbage or to feel myself safely in the Bar area :) You can't be member of Freedom and Duty simultaneously.

It should be possible, Duty doesn't have to know you are a member of Freedom and vice versa. :sly:

I encountered a problem in the Duty vs. Freedom quests in Warehouse area. If I side with Duty, the entire constantly-respawning Freedom base wants to kill me. If I side with Freedom, everyone in The Bar area wants to kill me.
So I won't side with anyone unless there are nice benefits I can't see.

The fact that the bar will be unfriendly is enough reason for me to stay neutral.

on the gsc board some user posted that it's possible to do missions for
both and when they tell you to attack the other faction, you come along,
but don't do/kill anything and they all stay friendly towards you.
cannot confirm did not try

You notice how you are a murderer if you kill someone on Duty territory? The same applies to the missions, just watch the action and you should stay as a neutral guy to both factions.
