...against the medical community.
Scenario #1
My dad (age 66) gets a big fucking hole cut in his back last week for some spine replacement. Hospital time 5-6 days, recovery time 5-6 months. Couldn't leave him for a second at the hospital because the fucking nurses ignore their call buttons and the poor guy can't take a piss by himself. They fuck up his sleeping meds and pain meds about 4 different times and forget to feed him two meals in a row.
Yesterday he's transported to a rehab center where he's warned that he can't leave the bed without a nurse in the room because they can't have him falling and they need to evalute his everyday activities (bathroom activity, etc.). Fine - after a week of sleeping in the room with him, eating hospital food, and basically doing the fucking nurses job, mom needed to go home and get some sleep. They told her to take his walker with her since they only allowed patients to go to the bathroom with nurse assistance and a wheel chair. Fine.
This morning my dad calls in hysterics telling her to come pick him up. He also has prostate problems and told them after we left yesterday that he was having related pain. Turns out, not only did they NOT check anything with his prostate, they were 3 1/2 hours late getting him his meds, and he's been to the bathroom twice without help because the nurses weren't coming to the room (he waited 20 minutes one time). Let me clarify: THEY CUT A HOLE IN HIS FUCKING BACK FIVE DAYS AGO AND TOOK A PIECE OF HIS FUCKING SPINE OUT. Now he has to have a cathedar re-installed and may have possibly tore some stiches getting out of bed.
Incidental reminder: THESE FUCKERS GET PAID MILLIONS OF DOLLARS BY COCKSUCKING INSURANCE COMPANIES TO FUCKING REHABILITATE THE PEOPLE IN THEIR CARE. They have done the exact OPPOSITE of that. Will they still recieve their money? You bet your sweet ass they will. I'm waiting on a call to find out what we should do next. Fuck.
Scenario #2
My one year old hasn't slept more than 3 consecutive hours since he was 6 weeks old (night or day). He had a virus at 6 weeks which required an anti-biotic. His stomach reacted violently and launched a case of nuclear acid reflux - as in stomach acid literally shooting so high up into his throat as to come out of his nose. He can't lay horizontally because it makes it even worse. We've seen a specialist (after finally convincing the fucking pediatrician that it wasn't colic - stupid fuck). An upper G.I. showed 'significant reflux' comparable to an adult. He was promptly put on adult strength Prevacid with a side order of Mylanta every 4 hours (it doesn't help at all). So something is obviously causing the reflux (allergies have been ruled out).
Immune deficieny? Stomach cancer? Ulcer? WE STILL DON'T FUCKING KNOW. You can only do one test at a time and they schedule the fuckers 5 weeks apart because the demand is so high. In the meantime it takes forever to get test results from the doctors who seem to take 2-3 days per week off. You also have to contend with being side-lined, avoided, and blatantly lied to by the clinc staff who will say anything to get you off the phone so they can return to their spider solitaire game. And this is supposedly one of the top 5 gastro-pediatricians in the world.
Meantime, my kid screams through most of the night, lurching backwards to escape the acid shooting up his throat which is raw after 10 months of this shit. Enjoy your day off playing golf mother fucker.
Sorry to vent my spleen but I can't take this shit anymore. Anyone of you who saw an old man or a small child suffering and had the means to help would do so without a moments hesitation. Any lucid human would. But Jesus Fucking Christ, all I have encountered lately are people who are getting fucking PAID to help and you can't get them to do jack shit, or to do it in a timely manner. Fucking fucking shit.
I know....get a blog.

Can't really think of anything to say to all that, so i won't. Thankyou for sharing it with us though. :thumb:
I usually would say... Always look on the bright side of life. But, there doesn't appear to be one. :p

I sympathise. My Gran, who is in her 80's was in hospital for six months from August last year, and when she was in rehab the nurses were terrible. They could never be bothered to let you in so you'd have to wait for another visitor leaving to let you in, they didn't come when she buzzed for them, and would then grumble when they had to clean up the mess.
Then to make me feel more positive about the medical profession, my Aunt was taken into hospital a couple of weeks ago & it was found she had cancer. Everywhere. Apparently when she went to the doctor about a lump she'd found they didn't bother checking it out, just said it was to do with her arthritis.
Both of these were in UK, and the NHS has on the whole only done good for me, but

I'm with you. I won't hijack your thread with my minor woes, but I do sympathize.
Oh, you forgot about them charging five dollars for a Burger King-sized sandwich at the cafeteria.

I doubt he'd want to do anything with one, other than ram it down their throats! I wonder what's in those things anyway? In a Hospital, they could contain anything!

You have my absolute sympathy, fett. If I lived closer I'd come by & babysit for your younglings so you & mrs. fett could get some shuteye. I sometimes wonder if there's a prerequisite that says you have to be a cold-hearted bastard/biatch to work in hospitals (I know, I know; not everybody that works in one is like that, but it sure seems like it when we hear stories like fett's).
Wish I could help and sincerely hope things start getting better for your family.

Useless, callous cunts.
Wish I had something more constructive than foul language to offer, but... I don't.

Let's not fag up fett's thread. However, your time has come, sluggs.
