Looks like Gone Home and PT had a baby and the baby is called <s>Adrian</s> Allison Road:

It's cool but ... horror is almost a let down. Aside from getting over played in this genre, I guess I'm expecting these kinds of IF like sims to tell good stories & pull you into them, since that's what they can offer over other genres.
And horror can only do so much story before ... well, if it were like a math proof (lol, best analogy I can think of right now), the part where the plot crosses into the supernatural is like the part where you prove a contradiction so you're allowed to assert anything at that point. Reality and 'real' drama is out the window at that point.
It looks great, and I like the 'examine' mechanic anyway. Be great for a murder mystery game too.

That reminds me of Silent Hill: The Room BIG TIME. Has that game written all over it and then some.
First half of that game was excellent (The Room). I really enjoyed the apartment bits, with your place looking all normal at the start of the game and slowly corrupting and looking for Silent Hill-ish as time went on.

If Silent Hills was going to be like PT then it would've been awful, worse than the slew of middle of the road average Silent Hill sequels made since SH3. PT was a spit in the face of the Silent Hill legacy.

Wait, so this isn't a game about that old 90's band?

After watching a let's play of the teaser game for Silent Hills (Spoony's), I'd have to say that that game is ever better than the good bits of The Room (all the apartment bits basically).
Looks quite scary.

Looks like they took the whole spiritual successor to PT too far as Allision Road is now cancelled...
Well, at least they haven't started making Allison Road themed pachinko machines yet.
