So another amazing musician passes. I didn't do a clever title because most probably havent heard of him, but he was hugely influential and changed the way guitar and improv could be played.

Truly ahead of his time.

You're talking to a guitar player who very much appreciated the brilliance of his work.
Rest well, virtuoso...:(
By the way, his name is spelled Allan.

Just click Edit Post, then Go Advanced...and you can now edit the title.

That sucks, but thanks for posting, Piglick. I have to admit that I was a fan of Jean-Luc Ponty (unsure if I should be ashamed of that), I still have a couple of his albums on vinyl. I was not actually aware of who the guitarist was, but I know I liked his work. RIP, Allan.

Sad thing is it was quite sudden, he was in the middle of making a new record apparently.

He will be sorely missed, a pioneer and innovator in the fusion and guitar world in general!
RIP, Bradford Guitar Executive!

I had this bad feeling he'd have trouble finishing some of his last projects. I pledged a bit on PledgeMusic for his "Tales from the Vault" thing.
I liked his unique way of playing and that he was uncompromising in sticking with his own style.

Such sad news. One of the music gods of my youth.
