Well, it went really smooth. My nerves went away after like 10 minutes. And the students were surprised to find that I had prepared examples and stories..."most instructors just read their slides".
Thanks for all the good cheer!

Well done on that.
However I always thought "marketing class" was just a dude standing behind a small stall trying to flog off fruit and veg to passers by.
Ah well...continue.

...I find teaching to be a blast when you have a class full of people who aren't idiots and who are genuinely giving the subject matter a go ... different story when they're fuckwits or aren't really interested and are just fishing for easy/necessary credits...
I have found that all students want to learn. Those who are
"genuinely giving the subject matter a go" will learn no matter who the teacher is. But it's those
fuckwits who really need the teacher. They are easy to ignore and will be content to sit in the back playing on their cell phones and ignore you. But once they realize that you care about them, show an interest and that they matter, they generally come around. You just have to find something that interests them. I had one design a computer game with basic chemistry concepts. I wanted it to be a Thievery mod but the school would not let us download UT. But as he was designing the game, he was learning chemistry. Not as much as I had hope but still he learned. But then I teach high school students and college....well it's just a different game.

I don't know which university or further education establishment that you taught at, but there are certainly places out there where there are people who really don't give a fuck. Uni is simply a rite of passage to some folks, these are usually the year 1/year 2 burn-outs I'm referring to mind you.
