Well kinda. I'm starting my new job as a college professor tomorrow. And now I have to be like responsible. Time to leave my Gen-X slacker-dom behind.
But hey, I did see Dimmu Borgir in concert 2 weeks ago, how many professors do that?

What do you profess?

Pffft, Gen X?
Get with the program, it's Gen Y or die.

Don't sleep with your students. It seldom ends well.
And yay congrats. :)

You're a professor? Holy shit! Does that mean that same thing as it does in england? (I.E You are department head and a highly internationally respected expert in your field)

Nah, I think in America it refers to any teaching academic, ie people who'd hold the post of lecturer or reader at a British uni.

Just don't make the same mistake I made when I held a course on HTML (:D), don't try to act like one of them. In the beginning that worked fine but when the course got larger no one respected me. :(

A professor is teacher at a college, and I'm pretty sure that you need to have a doctorate to be called that, although I may be wrong.

I always thought that you needed a PhD or a credential, but it turns out not to be true. Many accredited institutions require only a Master's and professional experience in the field. I applied just to see and they hired me!
My girlfriend said, "students are paying $1200 for you?!" I'm like, "I know, scary huh?". That's what I meant about growing up. Pretty much have to all of the sudden.
Oh, and it will be marketing classes.

I couldn't agree more. You are not their friend. The number of students that will try to take advantage of your good nature (especially if it's freshmen) will probably surprise you. Be tough at the start to get their respect, and you'll be able to be a bit more relaxed by the end without worrying that they're going to walk all over you.
