I recently upgraded my three Thief installs (TDP, TDPG and T2) to 1.19 and each was running fine until a few days ago. Now they all run just fine for about 10-15 minutes and then the whole computer crashes while a slight hum comes out of the speakers.
Dell Inspiron 560
Dual core Pentium 3ghz
ram 6gb
win 7 64 bit
GeForce GT 520
Windows created a .dmp file...I opened it in note pad and in the mess there was some plain text...
P r o g r a m F i l e s ( x 8 6 ) \ N V I D I A C o r p o r a t i o n \ 3 D V i s i o n \ n v w l . d l l
P r o g r a m F i l e s ( x 8 6 ) \ N V I D I A C o r p o r a t i o n \ 3 D V i s i o n \ n v s t r e s . d l l
S y s t e m R o o t \ s y s t e m 3 2 \ D R I V E R S \ A C P I . s y s
It also created an .xml file but reading through it I get not indication as to the problem. It just seems to be a list of hardware and software components like this sample...
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UNICODE"?>
-<SYSTEMINFO> -<SYSTEM> <OSNAME>Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition</OSNAME> <OSVER>6.1.7600 0.0</OSVER> <OSLANGUAGE>1033</OSLANGUAGE> <ARCHITECTURE>9</ARCHITECTURE> <PRODUCTTYPE>3</PRODUCTTYPE> </SYSTEM> <MEMORYDIAGNOSTIC> </MEMORYDIAGNOSTIC> -<DEVICES> -<DEVICE> <DESCRIPTION>Generic volume shadow copy</DESCRIPTION> <HARDWAREID>STORAGE\VolumeSnapshot</HARDWAREID> </DEVICE> -<DEVICE> <DESCRIPTION>USB Root Hub</DESCRIPTION> <HARDWAREID>USB\ROOT_HUB&VID8086&PID3A35&REV0000</HARDWAREID> <SERVICE>usbhub</SERVICE> <DRIVER>usbhub.sys</DRIVER> </DEVICE> -<DEVICE> <DESCRIPTION>USB Composite Device</DESCRIPTION> <HARDWAREID>USB\VID_04E8&PID_344F&REV_0100</HARDWAREID> <SERVICE>usbccgp</SERVICE> <DRIVER>usbccgp.sys</DRIVER>
Hope that helped. Should I try some specific vid card settings for T2.exe? Seems odd that everything was working perfectly and now it's not.

You could try other 3d games to see if it's a graphics problem or a Dark Engine problem. Perhaps the Dark Mod or a stress testing program.
My hunch is that it's an issue with the card and/or the drivers. Maybe a file has become corrupted or there's a hardware problem.

That's a good idea. I'll try some Doom and Dark Mod straight away.
EDIT:
Bugger! Dark Mod is acting up too. Not quite the same...it wants to freeze up on reload. I'm going to clean my innards. It's been about a year since I did.
EDIT: #2...Overheating vid card. The stupid tiny fan froze up. Found a 1gig AMD card for 45 bucks with big 'ol honking heat sinks and no crappy fan. Things seem good to go.
Thanks you R Soul. :cheeky:
