In context, the "warning bells" are alarms of possible alt-nickery and spambots, not much else. The reason for that is most new members DON'T come to CommChat for a while -- they find TTLG while searching for Thief stuff, DX stuff, and (more increasingly) Morrowind Sex. So new members who start off posting in here are frequently on Missions To Sell Us Something or previously banned members who think they are going to slip back in unnoticed.
Often they are allowed to slip back in, but it's never unnoticed.

It's good to know that the Admins are among those who don't like seeing people ganging up on new members. That's one of the reasons I stayed away from CommChat for so long.
