I hope there´s an option to play as the Alien somewhere...
There was nothing cooler than climbing ceilings, jumping, hissing and eating humans in AVP and AVP2.

the Alien from the first film returns as a scout and overall sneaky bastard, while the xenomorph from Aliens is the ubiquitous warrior type. They're also considering adding more, such as a drone that can carry eggs.
...
What are your thoughts?
Sounds fail.

That part sounds fine. It's just that Cameron brought a lot to the table with Aliens that these games are gonna have to fill. Just shooting is not enough.

Yeah. I guess it could have been worse though.
When the game was announced I joined the Gearbox forums for a few weeks and it's interesting to see how the developers listened to plenty of suggestions in there. I, among a few others were asking for A.I that would hunt you in the shadows and stealthily make use of the environment and your field of view for maximum "ARRRRGHHH". :cheeky: It's nice that they didn't seem to just stick with aliens that blindly run at you.
I'm not particularly interested in this game anymore because I don't know what separates it from the AvP games, but it's interesting that they've decided to write in the Space Jockeys. Now, THAT sounds like fail.

Three words : COOPERATIVE SQUAD TACTICS.
And no Predators, obviously. Predator is cool but I'm so overeaten by AvP crossover, so perhaps it should be good to see something Alien-puristic for a change. Hopefully it will fall into storyline of original movies better.

Possibly. Interesting though, Brandywine producers and even Scott himself were (and prolly still are) enthusiastic about movie which would explain the backround of Space Jockey, but perhaps Space Jockey is interesting because he's MYSTERIOUS and UNEXPLAINED. I give Sega a chance for now... the writers seem to be as much fans as good writers and maybe different publisher than Fox will also mean fresh air for the Alien material.

now tuning in to this thread. When I first saw the thread topic I thought that it revolves around an old mod I didn't know of ! but a NEW Alien(s) Game sounds awesome. I love the movies, the universe and the creature itself.
while I would love to play ALIEN1 with an extremely intelligent and deadly (acid for real !) enemy I don't think we will get that. more like a mixture between brothers in arms & avp (sans predator). a 4 person drop-in coop sounds fabulous too.
this property has many opportunities to fuck up. the one thing I blame alien4 for is that the Aliens in that movie weren't scarry nor menacing. alien 1 was true terror, alien2 had good action moments but no real terror, only booo horror.
i will never forget ripley trying to get to the emergency shuttle in Alien1, heavily breathing back against the wall in front of that stroboscope.
if any game manages to recreate the tension of that scene somehow it's win.

(and seeing the other thread that they (sega) green lighted another AvP is just rubbing salt in the wound, topped off with a kick in the nuts.. for someone that always wanted a pure alien(s) game)
