Just read that they're including some kind of quicktime event close combat thing, where an alien grabs you and you somehow manage to poke it in the eye or something(?). Thats lame. One of those things grabs you, you should be utterly screwed, not able to beat it up.
I agree. This is one of the problems in Space Hulk, once you get the combat mechanics down you don't need to worry so much about being flanked because you automatically turn to face an attacking Stealer. Then you just identify which attack it's using and hit it when needed.

Apparently its going to be set after the events of Alien 3, and you are going to play one of the much-delayed rescue mission sent after the original marines in Aliens. I like the sound of it - it ties in neatly with the existing storylines (discounting ressurection, as it rightly should. Bumbag of balls that it was.), and theres a lot of scope for plausibly revisiting many of the great film locations. I do wonder how they're going to incorporate the colony on LV 426 though, seeing as it was vaporised. Maybe you go visit one of the other atmosphere processors? (there was supposed to be a whole bunch, wasn't there?). Anyway, quicktime bollocks aside (which might even not be horrible, you never know), this still looks promising.

I don't understand how and why other atmosphere processors could have been possibly infested. I suspect they are going to desecrate Space Jockey ship instead.

Um.... well. Um. I presume you're going to a colony of some kind at some point, because there's been screenshots. And it's either on LV-426 or there's another beasty planet somewhere. So I dunno. Hopefully the explanation won't be too stupid when they come up with it.

So, apparently the acid blood isn't going to be strong enough to melt through things. And the quicktime elements... This is rapidly going from 'promising' to 'unwanted'.
Vivian on 18/3/2008 at 13:30
To be charitable, acid blood eating through everything would be difficult, and it's disinclusion didn't really affect AVP1 (best FPS on the franchise so far). It would be nice if it destroyed floors etc, but I could forsee situations where you got swarmed and ended up standing on a patch of floor with no floor around it. Which either means mario style floating platform or implementation of a physics system for the structure of every building you're in. Which would be cool, but probably a few years off yet. I agree quicktime is discouraging.

And I wouldnt recommend to hurt an alien on board of a spaceship if you dont want to be sucked out into space, hehehe.

Those shots look generic as hell, pardon my say so. Gearbox's never been on the forefront of eye candy anyhow.
I do hope the welding of doors and ceiling panels will be in, though.
