Could someone remind me when in Aliens a drone actually dents a door please?

Probably when they weld the doors in the OP center.

POINT IS, as far as the game goes, the aliens seem to have been nerfed. Entire appeal is based upon how bad-ass a bunch of space-rapists the Aliens are. Even their blood will melt your face off. Should basically gut you if they get close enough to hit you. Instead it looks like we get a cuddling mini-game? Like the dogs from MW.
Suitable explanation would have been something like some suits at WY (who of course, knew what the battalion is getting into) issued veteran squad leaders (of which the PC is one) some test-type exo-suit type thing (like a military-themed version of whatever the guys at the end of Alien 3 were wearing) to test their effectiveness vs. normally equipped troopers. Give it powered actuators and acid resistant coating. Would fit with established fiction and explain your ability to chuck the Aliens about like they were angry drunks and avoid the aforementioned face-melting. Would also allow a nice narrative device - all guys not wearing exo-suits get minced in minutes (establish Alien threat as credible), leaving you with, I dunno, four combat vets in suits left?

You mean like ALICE from AvP2?
Vivian on 5/10/2011 at 13:45
Like, man-sized. Actual power-armour. Horrible cliche, but useful one for games (gives a reason why you, the PC, seem to always do better than everyone else). Military painted prototype for these guys:

wait I just realised the suits are made of cricket and rollerskating pads D:<

Yeap, that's what I thought too when Vivian mentioned the Alien 3 suits. They're like, not even riot gear. What were they going to do once they got their mitts on the alien? Ice skate it to death?
Vivian on 5/10/2011 at 15:50
For the sake of argument, let's presume that those cricket pads are made of (uh.. exceptionally bendy) SPACE-METAL, and that those suits are in fact, bad as hell at beating up aliens. Which I'm sure was the intention.

(
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/333612/aliens-colonial-marines-delay-is-official/) Delayed to Q3 2012. I approve of their justification wholeheartedly.
Quote:
The developer has issued the below statement, confirming the delay following a report on a revised release date appearing on the game's official website earlier today.
"Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don't necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line," said a Gearbox rep.
"While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective. We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritizing this goal over the previously targeted date."
The rep made no mention of the revised date, which now sits at 'autumn' on the official site.
Cinematic trailer, scored to Clint Mansell. :thumb:
