Interesting. Looks a lot like the new AvP, especially in the player movement, weapons handling, and prevalence of scripted ally deaths. I guess that's both a good and a bad thing- I felt that the Marine component of AvP was the best part, but it wasn't exactly flawless and the heavy scripting loses some of its punch on a second or third playthrough.
Not to mention having a bunch of your teammates die in planned sequences with no way to save them seems very 'gamey' and, for me at least, damages immersion since the game is basically flat-out telling you that this is what has to happen and you are just a spectator.
Although I guess that's really pretty much nitpicking at this point, since until a demo/beta/leak comes out, we don't know how it'll actually play. Once again, I'm cautiously optimistic.

It would make sense to me if the AvP2010 feel was there. I'd assume they'd share assets considering Sega was behind that title as well.

so borderlands in the aliens universe ?
I can't see anything exciting in the trailer. They just replicated stuff from the movie and the whole sequence has you shooting at aliens at close range but I cannot see any damage from the acid ? Neither to you or the ship. Aliens again look like cannonfodder and not like a menace that can take out an entire squad. I guessed this is the tutorial since you do not have much to do but they said this is a chunk of the 2nd Act....so I guess the gameplay will stay that way....bummer

god forbid an aliens game look like aliens, boo hoo hoo hoo, you want it to go fetch your slippers?

I think the aliens's acid stuff is only due to the fact it's still quite in production. Looks a bit too scripted for my liking, but if they get the gameplay fun, I might consider it.

Hmm. Hmmmmm. Dunno. Looks nice. Aliens seem a bit too retarded, Randy does not help. Snyder slow-fast-slow-mo DEFINITELY does not help. Seems nowhere near as brutal as I would want it to be, and as has been mentioned one million times, way to scripted. Looks like a MW game, basically - worries me that it's trying to be a bit too cack-handedly 'cinematic'. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but not entirely promising based on that.

You do realise that you're watching a PRESS DEMO? Those are often custom built/modified specifically for demonstration, set at an easier difficulty or have God mode on.

it is not that the player is invincible, it is just again a game where your NPC buddies do way more cool stuff than you. Like driving that mech-loader. That is what the player should do. Not place a turret at an already marked location. And again. dozens of aliens go down in lemming fashion instead of an intense encounter where aliens lie in ambush or flank you. While I love L4D I do not think it will lend itself to an Alien game. Aliens are no grunts, there should be no need for special Aliens besides the queen.

You do realise that the drop-in/drop-out Co-op partner aka a real human was driving the Power Loader?

but that would require admitting he was wrong
