...what only opens more questions : It means that W-Y has decoded the signal from the derelict spaceship, what kind of information the space jockey's message provided them with? And if the warning message contained information about highly dangeours species, why they didn't sent there a team of trained specialists and relied on commercial freighter manned by mere 'truck drivers'? And how come the W-Y "forgot" about the signal by the time of events of 'Aliens'... and and and...

How could they know what they're going to find in the first place? Unless the space jockey message has transmitted details of the Alien biology and that's doubtful...

Hm. I wonder what the actual source of that order is.
Is it possible it's an order from Mother to Ash, not from WY itself? It's probably worth noting that the first line is in past tense, not an imperative. And by the time we see the order, the alien had already eaten several people.
