The main thing I'm worried about is that it'll work extremely well for an hour or two, but then it'll have exhausted its bag of tricks. Alien is a great film, but it's also a *lean* film, and that accounts for some of its greatness. Stretch that sort of experience over 6-10 hours? That's a much trickier proposition. Amnesia, for all its effectiveness, didn't really keep up the tension all the way, and that's probably the game I've seen come up most as a point of comparison.

They should insert some Quick Time Events and 3rd person climbing sequences to add a little variety to the gameplay.

Blasphemy!
.. None of that would work without linear corridor progression to bolster the narrative. :P

Well, the movies are no stranger to linear corridors. Those poor convicts...

I have the same apprehensions, my friend.

Holy crap. The reviews are out before the game is released? I thought that was a thing of the past.
So far they're mostly positive. Going to keep reading. As is the case with any game/movie/ideology/etc it's best to read the most negative criticism first, and IGN were (
http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/10/03/alien-isolation-review) unimpressed with it for being repetitive, unfair, and stressful.

Does anyone know whether it's supposed to work with Oculus Rift (perhaps with a later patch)? I've heard contradictory information on that one and whether the OR demo of the game was going to remain a demo only.
I could imagine that this one runs out of steam before it's over, but even if I'll just get a couple of hours of Alieny goodness out of it, I'm going to be happy with that. (I'll only buy it in a few months, mind you, since I'm battling a big backlog.) Doubly so if, once the OR is out, you can play in VR... which may just remove a few years from my life expectancy in one fell swoop.

AFAIK there's been no official confirmation on Oculus Rift support yet.
