I also think that Prometheus is over-hated.
One common misconception that I realized on a recent re-watch: Everybody thinks that everybody on the mission is supposed to be Earth's Best and Brightest. They're not. Meredith Vickers was convinced that the whole mission was a trillion dollar boondoggle from the get go, and she wanted it to fail so Weyland would finally die and she could take over the company, so she hired a bunch of assholes for cheap. The only people she wasn't in charge of hiring were (most likely) the actual ship's crew, and Weyland's personal security. Everybody else is the lowest bidder she could get to waste six years flying to the ass end of the galaxy and back without being told why.

Prometheus was a big ball of shite.
Is
Alien: Covenant not going to be a big ball of shite?
I'm not so sure.
Well, everything which came after the original film was pretty much shite. So, also considering that Hollywood is full of shite these days, this will most likely be uber shite.

Well I'm glad that that's cleared up.

Don't mention. Always glad to help. :p But, seriously, the Alien franchise is probably one of the most raped of them all. The first film was pure class. Always sad to see when something with such potential is just wasted, and you know that the popularity is the reason for it.

I'm a huge fan of the original film, but I don't know how you can just dismiss the sequel. Both films are great to me, but IMO Aliens is the better movie.

I dont get why people get so grrr about it.
Terminator 2 did the same thing (taking a horror series and moving things in a more action direction) and yet you never hear people complaining about that. I for one am a fan of the first more than the sequel of that but im still fine with the second.

Alien used a B movie subject and came out as a work of art. Terminator was just a B movie.

Don't agree at all. Total masterpiece.

I dare you to watch Alien and Terminator today and tell me they hold up equally well.
IIRC Terminator starts with some goofy robo tanks rolling over human skulls. That was a tired symbol even then. You won't find a lapse like that in Alien.
But anyway, you asked why some people have a problem with Aliens, whereas Terminator 2 was universally beloved. And I named a reason. This has nothing to do with whether you or I liked Terminator. I liked it as much as any kid.
