Alicia's mysterious lever ... - by Chade

Ok, this is making me feel stupid. When you go to Alicia's house, there is a lever sort-of hidden by a cupboard, which you can pull and hear a sound that looks like it is made by a porticullus os some kind moving ... but for the life of me, I simply cant find what happens!
It doesn't seem like this should be all that hard ... what am I doing wrong?
And also ... (but please don't give me more then a small hint for this one) ... where and who is Oliver and his silly treasure hunt?
