I'm level 50 in Alchemy, I have a complete Apprentice set of instruments. When I make a potion, poison or non-poison, it's always a slow amount spread over several seconds. I just brewed up a batch of poisons, the best I can make, and they do 3 damage over 21 seconds. Same thing my Restore Magicka and Restore Fatigue. They work over an extended period of several seconds. How do I make a potion that works instantly, like gives you 50 health at once rather than all spread out?

Don't think you can. Would make things rather easy if you could instantly heal 200 health or so with a potion you made yourself. But keep in mind that the potions, while taking time, continuesly does the effect. So a 5 damage over 30 seconds poison would do 150 damage.
And with healing potions, you could just drink a bunch depending on how fast you need health back. Drink enough and you'll get it back at blazing speeds, plus be pratically invincible while they are still in effect. Or just keep a few spare healing potions that you've bought around, since they are instant.

The Restore Fatigue over a period of time is actually pretty useful in combat.
So you say it's a balancing decision and part of the game design. I hadn't thought about that. I was a little puzzled because all of the potions I can buy or find are instantaneous. Seems a little weird that all of the ones I make are over a period of time.
