Potions can damage people, but you can't just give people potions. So you're limited to either using potions yourself, or selling them.
The most useful potions (in my opinion) that you can make quite easily are levitation potions, and restore fatigue and health potions.
Easy to make and at ~90 alch skill I was churning them out and selling them for around 120g apiece. The ingredients for a restore fatigue cost maybe 2g for one potion.
