Slopes? Snowy Granius, I thought his name was?
CoK, I don't mind exploring Morrowind dungeons, but Daggerfall dungeons used to freak me out. All the dank drippy noises, distant unearthly screeches, echoing footsteps and creaky door noises used to terrify me. You used to feel that you were about to get jumped at any time by something unspeakable. At first I refused to go into dungeons at all, I used to get my boyfriend to do them for me :)
The MW dungeons, even the the huge ones under Mournhold, don't have the same atmostphere. I'm not quite sure whether that's good, or bad :)
Btw, I think it's worth exploring Vvardenfell thoroughly. I enjoy wandering in the wilderness, personally, just seeing the scenery. I think that's a major part of the game, but if it's not your thing, I'm sure Ajira won't mind where you get the herbs from :)

Talking to the guy at Ebonheart stops the attacks - you don't actually have to travel to Mournhold to stop them.

Correct you are. I was going from memory, which is obviously getting worse.

Is that true? I seem to recall that the attacks didn't stop until (1) I had faced all 14 (is it 14? Something like that) Sleepytime Assassins or (2) I had visited Mournhold and straightened out their boss.
My advice, CoK: Don't stop the attacks if you can withstand them. Each set of Dark Assasin armor is worth over (IIRC) 2000 gold, and their Ebony Darts are 2K apiece as well. Adds up to some nice cash for a low-level player, if you can beat 'em. I've read a hint that says, "Go just outside any town with guards in it, just far enough outside that you can Rest. Rest a few hours, and when you get attacked, run back into town. When the Guards see something attacking you, they'll intervene, kill the Assassin, and you can then pick up all the loot." Which sounds great in theory, but I've never been able to get it to work. The guards just ignore the mysterious black-clad fella wailing on a poor citizen and carry on their merry way. Of course, I may not have done it correctly.

LOL! Those little guys are always getting lost; I left my Binky somewhere on Vvardenfell, had a few months break from Morrowind while I played the new Tomb Raider, and damned if I haven't forgotten where I parked him :laff: On the plus side, while I was wandering around Mournhold looking for him, I did find my packrat Hercules waiting patiently in the Great Bazaar, where I left him even earlier.....
Oh and Zaphod, the Snowy Slopes thing wasn't your mistake originally, it was Ryushi's. No idea where he got that from, but then he's always screwing up.
(love you RB :cheeky: )

Yup, the attacks stop (I.E. the variable/journal entry that stops them is set) when you speak with the person that teleports you to Mournhold without you needing to actually travel there.
And I've found that guards will only attack creatures, not other NPC's that attack you (which the assassins are). You will notice that the guards don't help if you taunt NPC's and they attack, even though the buggers attack you if you start a fight.

Blimey... This sure is embarassing. I was trying to find my oldest post (this happens to be it, or atleast the oldest recorded.) I now feel an urge to explain myself despite the bright red warning telling me this thread is more than 30 days old.
You see, at the time I was reading a novel in which a man called Snowy Slopes was brutally murdered. He was called Snowy Slopes because of his high forehead and great amount of dandruff, which looked a lot like snow. He was trying to wash his hair (again), when a bloke came up and cut his head off.
I could only remember the NPC's name as 'Snowy' something, so I guess I remembered Snowy Slopes from my book and used him instead.
Erm. To life, liberty, and reasonably priced coissants! Huzzah!

Don't worry, they'll get a nasty fine after you're dead.
