I hardly think that Utah has any grounds to comment on its Mother Tongue (English - as there is no such language as american)
I think that your observation is complete b0ll0cks and that you must have only heard 3 aussies and 4 brits talking... ever.
oooh aaarrrrrr :ebil:
Actually, his observation is pretty spot on, at least based on the exposure we get here in the US.
I listen to the BBC almost daily and they drop 'R's from the end of words and add them to words that end with A.

nah
words like maddonA are pronouced phonetically as
a away, cinema
so the a becomes a kind of *uh*
however in some local dialects in the UK (and similar in the US/Canada) there can be a trailing *r*
it is merely colloquial variations of common language

I like how you managed to both refute and confirm the point in the same post.

hehe :) it is a special talent that has taken over 37 years to perfect!
But I guess that you were just being mean and did not realise that I did not link the Beeb with colloquialisms and/or regional accents; even if they are a little more relaxed these days with their requirements for pronunciation they still do not employ (in their newscasting) regional accents and therefore the added *R* is not applicable to Beeb news (at least over here in the UK - I do not know if you listen to World Service?)
If it *is* the case that beeb newsreaders use regional accents, I would be interested to learn the names of the broadcasters whom you (or was it the OP) have heard so doing :)

newphase, there's a new position open for you that recently belong to a somewhat intriguing yet remarkably annoying orifice known as StD.

FYI Allah is not a christian god and you need to *bone-up* on your theology and religious history.
AFAIK (according to my muslim mate at college who's pretty intense about the whole thing), Muslims claim that their Allah is the same God that the Christians worship. One of the major differences is that the Muslims believe Jesus wasn't the Son of God, but merely another one many prophets (of whom Mohammed is foremest and recent). Almost all of these prophets are figures of the old testament in the bible, e.g. Abraham and John the baptist.
