I don't think we should be afraid of AI. We can use it to our benefit.
Yes, it'll be very useful for a short time for everyone. Then what will happen is people will be replaced as workloads become lighter and more condensed. Either fewer people will be needed for some jobs or those jobs will become less lucrative for employees.
AI is not a new socket set or hammer in your tool box. The literal aim by creators is to replace humans and thought processes. Of course there are positives in regards to some things like having an AI editor for writing which is much faster than having to send it to a human to review, make suggestions and send back. AI still has a ways to go to earn my full trust though because all too often the suggestions are questionable and sometimes flat wrong.
The crazy thing is that not only will AI displace workers in your own country but will also displace workers in countries where work has been outsourced to for cheaper labor. Literally most of what I used to do in supply chain is being replaced by AI systems so the argument that AI allows us 'to focus on other important stuff' is not logical unless your goal is to focus on longterm unemployment.

AI is already taking night shift jobs from douche-bags with car alarms.

Next up, driverless Harleys stealing your peace, 24/7.
The promise of AI and robots was to free humans from dangerous jobs and drudgery. The reality is concentrating more wealth with the nouveau robber barons, just like in the industrial revolution.
But sharing the civilization dividend? That's COMMUNISM!

It's looking more like AI taking the interesting jobs, and humans are stuck doing the unpleasant ones.
We're at a point that many, if not most, university degrees are useless, because there's fewer and fewer vacancies for the good jobs, a lot of it due to AI
