AI-AI conversation bugs, Is there a reset or play conversation command? - by YcatX

Anyone know how to reset an AI to AI conversation? I know this happened many times when I made my Thief2 missions. Skyrim has a few bugs, and I wonder if this one could be fixed. You can make her go to her shop using the console commands, but its only a temp fix.
In Winterhold, when you first enter the town, Ranmir and Birna (store owner) are having a conversation outside about his drinking. Ranmir would normally go to the bar and Birna would go inside her shop and the shop would open.
HOWEVER, when I took a carriage to Winterhold, a dragon suddenly appears and started attacking the town. I killed it, but it happened when I was watching the conversation between those two AIs. It interrupted their conversation and they will not move from their starting positions. Is there a console command to re-initialize an AI, or a programmed conversation? I know if the conversation was replayed it would continue and they would return to 'normal'...
Anyone?

Have you tried 'resurrect' or 'resurrect 1'? Sometimes this helps re-set some NPCs for me when they're just running around acting strange. It usually happens after I get into a fight with a guard and since I'm their Thane, they automatically join in, then still stalk around acting all spooked even after the guard is dead. The resurrect command sometimes puts them back on track. I'm not sure if it would re-set the scripted conversations though.

Interesting... I'll try it, I guess I'll have to try to resurrect both. My experience would tell me that the AI's are in the default starting position and thus wouldn't change anything, because the scripted conversation cannot be triggered except by a one-shot script that is fired when the player first approaches, otherwise it could replay constantly which would be just as bad.

I just had a similar experience in Dragonbridge wherein the mill owner was complaining about his wife, but a dragon swooped down and killed him (and the maid who runs the inn there), thus cutting his complaint short. I wasn't sure if there was a mini-quest involved with his complaint, so I resurrected both him and the tavern maid and he walked back to his outdoor fire, sat down, and when I initiated conversation with him, proceeded to complain about his wife again. Alas, no mini-quest there, but it was interesting to know I could bring him back to life and he would go back to his normal routine. However I don't think his complaint was a one-time only thing that you get when you meet him for the first time, but not upon subsequent meetings. I'm beginning to think there are glitches within the glitches in this game; though some of them can be very entertaining.

I fixed it. Those two AI's were locked there. I tried kill them and resurrected and they return to their bugged ways and would ignore dragon attacks and so forth. Attacking them would cause them to argo. I tried running out of town, paying my crimes and returning to town and they were STILL bugged.
Here is what I did to fix it:
In the console, I clicked on the door, and typed UNLOCK and pressed return.
Door to shop unlocked, so I walked inside. Once inside, I issued:
player.placeatme 0001c187
This is Birna's class ID. This instant of Birna was not bug, and started cooking and conducting the store normally. I stepped outside and highlighted the bugged Birna and typed:
kill
I through bugged Birna's body off the bridge to the Mages college. I hope she will be garbaged out.
I left bugged Ranmir there, outside. Who cares about him. Don't you have to assassinate him eventually? Since this is my 3rd run through, I play for fun. I finished the Xbox version, and now trying out the PC. Someone was telling me there is an editor. Is there one?

There should be one but we're still waiting for it as far as I know.
I've used resurrect for a permanent change only once, and that was when Frost got killed by some spiders yesterday. It's just too dull to keep going through horses, so what the hell.
Resurrecting companions is a bit fiddly, I think you use resurrect 1 so they don't lose all the stuff you've given them. Perhaps I've been a bit lucky with the quest glitches so far as I've not specifically had to fix anything yet.

I've used resurrect to bring back some of the unfortunate victims of game: the poor Stormcloak soldier being led to his eventual death by the Imperials, hapless victims of dragon attacks, etc. When I brought the two AI back to life in Dragonbridge after they'd been killed by a dragon, they both went their separate ways, while the guard started questioning me by asking, 'Did you see what happened here?'. I had a giggle, then moved on.
I also tried to follow the Stormcloak prisoner after I freed him, but just ended up chasing him over half the map before he got killed again by going out of his way to challenge a troll. After that I figured he was too stupid to live anyway.
I'm still lurking around main roads at night though, hoping to see the headless horseman. So far I've not seen him; not even from a distance.

I've seen the headless horseman about 3-4 different times on the Xbox version, haven't on the PC yet. He always leads me back to the same place. I think he randomly makes a journey from player's origin to the secret destination (Hamvir's Rest (near Dustman's Cairn) - NWW of Whiterun)... That may change, but it's where I followed him to all three times I chased him. I was so glad I spent so much in Stamina. My character builds are always Stamina heavy. I don't care if I'm two or three hit. It's just like Thief. Nothing like rolling up a hill when you got lots and lots of stamina.
I don't like horses. They tend to die and mess with my hiding. However, having one when you fast travel to the Throat, it makes things interesting...

Do you recall about what time of the night you saw the hh? Were you wandering the roads, entering/leaving a village? It's driving me nuts!
As far as horses go, I've had the best luck with Shadowmere (you
get him when you finish the final Assassins Guild quest). UESP Wiki claims he's far more durable than even Frost; a fact that's been proven for me over and over. I've never had to resurrect him once though he's gone head-to-head with dragons, high-ranking necros, bandits, & beasts. I've had him for weeks now and my only complaint is that sometimes a seriously nasty dragon might send him running & then I have to go looking for the damn beast (or, just fast-travel someplace if I don't feel like running around searching).
Example: While coming down off a mountain, we were attacked by
FOUR bears and a giant spider all at once! Needless to say, my horse seemed to come out on top, while my hubby & I took a considerable amount of time healing.

Shadowmere is actually immortal. As in, essential character. She can only be "stunned" for a while (this happened to me a few times riding recklessly around cliffs).
