I thought Tong or Alex or someone gives you the same talk if you don't rescue Paul? First time I played thru I let Paul die, and I distinctly remember someone having the same conversation on the last level as I had with Paul the second time I played thru. The bit with JC saying about how Icarus wants to plug into his brain kinda stuck in my mind

I didn't know you could save Paul! I cant see how thats possible as his death by the kill switch is part of the story. So dont you have to find his body in the MJ12 base, if you decide to kill those MJ12 guys in the hotel.

Ah, right. Savage, of course.
It does kinda make sence... I mean, the dude's a scientist, right? So the chances are he doesn't have any major philosophical views on how the future of the world should play out. Yeah, yeah, I know, doesn't gel 100% neatly with the character of a man who split from Area 51 due to moral concerns, but hey...
Actually, if he was working at Area 51, SPOILERS

http://irony.gamehappy.com/micon.gif then he may well have had access to information concerning the program that spawned JC. He could conceivably have known you longer than Paul! And heck, you did save his daughter. Well, I did anyway.

about Anna Navarre - - If you saved the PS20, that little one shot spy pistol, you can use that to kill her in one shot from point blank range. The wierd thing was, I was watching my friend play his game, and he killed her in one shot. When i shot her in the head in my game, she retaliated and whooped my ass. I then tried shooting her in different place, and go figure, the place that worked - the groin. She ran away out of the room, and I blasted her with the assault rifle. Lebedev lived and everyone was dandy and joyous (except Anna) :-)

This is the wierd bit... there was a brief fire fight, and I barely took any damage, yet for no apparant reason, it suddenly prints up "LOADING" and next thing I know, I'm sat in the MJ12 prison cell! I didn't die or anything, neither did Paul! And I was really looking forward to trying to kick Gunther's ass...
One of those UNATCO troopers has a sniper rifle. Depending on the difficulty he probably nailed you with a headshot and that was that. Though how such a takedown could have been "nonlethal" is entirely beyond me.

Yeah, I thought that at first, but as I say, I was in perfect health, even had the Ballistic Protection aug running, and had I died anyway, I would've seen my body crumple to the floor. Y'know, that little death animation it does? But nope, I was stood there, spraying the lobby with gunfire and all of a sudden, WHOMP, I'm busted.
Rorschach on 26/2/2001 at 14:10
On the lobby shootout...
Saving paul is irrelevant, he's invincible. Just hide in his closet until the initial fightiing dies down, hen lead ihim out into the lobby.
Paul will die if you leave his apartment through the window, if you don't he will live.
Gunther is also invincible and armed with a Plasma Rifle. Even if you kill everything at Battery Park, there's nowhere to go, and no way out. Whatever you try, you ARE going in that cell.
Oh yeah, and on the 747, if you kill Anna there's no difference to the game whether Lebedev survives or not. I just appropriate a LAW from the NSF's secret store-room and blow her to chunks.
