First, it's great to see all you Thief and SS2 fanatics again!
Two questions:
In the scene on the 747 when you first find out that Paul is on the NSF's side - after Agent Navarre took it upon herself to assassinate Lebedev when I refused, I planted a mine on the wall and blew her to bits! Freaked the crap out of Alex Jacobsen!
I went back to a save game and tried to kill Navarre before she could assassinate him, but I haven't been able to; closest I got was a draw (both of us dead). Anyone try this and succeed?
Also, when I went back to Paul's apartment, I stayed and fought the MiB's rather than escaping out the window. We had held them off, but then Paul went running off to the lobby, and a firefight with about twenty UNATCO agents ensued. I also tried escaping and made it to the subway station, only to get apprehended by Gunther. Has anyone found a way to progress the story from Paul's apartment that doesn't end up with you in the MJ12 holding cell?
You gotta LOVE the options this game gives you!

Navarre isn't to hard to kill, if you place yourself correctly. It takes a 30.06 mm bullet at point-blank range...you take damage, but it gets the job done.

The way I killed Navarre was getting behind her and torching her to death. Other popular ways are to plant a LAM in the hall outside before she gets to the room with Lebedev

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifThe people on this board have tried everything and decided that there is no way to evade mj12. However, if you let yourself die inside the 'Ton, you'll save Paul. Dying in any other place will result in Paul's Death.
One wierd thing I noticed about that level was that if you escaped to the subway, and took the subway from the Park back to the 'Ton area, you end up on the roof of Paul's apartment. Wierd.

You know, I tried planting a LAM in the hall; she walked right through it.
Guess I will have to try again.
I suppose Lebedev ends up dead anyway? I'd love to hear what juicy gossip he was about to tell me.

That is not true. If you kill the enemies and go out the front door you can die anywhere and he will live.

Hmm....
I killed Navvare by throwing a LAM in the back of the room where she was standing. The shockwave from LAM's isn't as big as you'd expect.
I'm going to fuck around in the Hell's Kitchen 2 and see if I can save Paul. What happens if he lives?

I killed Navarre by just shooting her in the head with the shotgun. She was waiting for me to execute Lebedev, and I walked up to her, shot her in the face, and it took one more shotgun blast to finish her off. Only lost 12 health from her guns. Then I got to hear all sorts of juicy stuff from Lebedev.

Yeah, I just plant a bunch of lams on the wall in the hallway just outside the door. While Lebedev and I are talking, we hear a loud explosion. No damage taken, no Anna. Of course, the voice in your head asks what the hell are you doing. Hehe!

The first time I actually decided the kill Anna on the 747 it took me about 30 minutes of constant reloading to kill her without killing either myself or Lebedev... stupid exploding corpses. Kept killing her, only to have her detonate, usually killing Lebby-boy and relieving me of my legs.
Had some wierd schtuff happen in the 'Ton when I saved Paul, tho. Used the tried-and-true method of wiring the hallway up with LAMs and Gas Grens, then I stood by the window, got my Sniper Rifle, and headshotted anyone dumb enough to try to get thru the door.
A bunch of troopers and a few MIBs later, Paul suddenly leaps out of his chair and goes charging out into the foyer. I figured, what the hell, and followed him. I get to the top of the stairs and all of a sudden, a bunch of Troopers and five-ohs come running in from the front entrance.
This is the wierd bit... there was a brief fire fight, and I barely took any damage, yet for no apparant reason, it suddenly prints up "LOADING" and next thing I know, I'm sat in the MJ12 prison cell! I didn't die or anything, neither did Paul! And I was really looking forward to trying to kick Gunther's ass...

*SPOILER*
You meet up with him again at the end of Hong Kong, just basically to say hello.
Also, he contacts you on the last level to talk to you about your options. Unlike everyone else, he isn't pushing his own agenda and just says you should do what you think is right. I thought it was worth saving him just for this because the chat outlines the different endings quite well and puts everything in perspective.
