I dispute LongTom's use of the word "evolution" in this poll.

Agreed. "Degeneration" would be a better description.

I hesitated to use the word evolution, but decided to be open minded since some aspects of the game have evolved (havok physics, graphics) even if they aren't all we might have hoped for.
I realize many people, like myself, might be very excited about the chance for another great DX "story" (that's what I love about games like this, the chance to be part of a story instead of just watching a movie or reading a book), even if they are disappointed that it doesn't look like the game is going to be as "fun" as they hoped it was going to be as a result of the removal of certain DX1 features.
If you are in this category (hoping for great story and hoping the full game will be immersive and fun, but you have doubts), I think you may want to vote in the disappointed category.
DX1 was a game of the year. I think DX2 could have been, but won't be, and that's why I'm disappointed. IF the story turns out to be good, and the dialog turns out to be good, and the maps turn out to be cool (none of which we can really judge from the demo, but we have our hopes still up based on some reviewers who've seen the whole game), AND the AI is better than the demo portrays, and location damage really works properly in the full game, and the improved physics turns out to be more fun it's seemed to me so far (I just can't excited about stacking bodies and burning bones in 50-gallon drums), THEN I think DX2 may be an OK game. Fun, but not GOTY material.
If NOT, and given all these other changes (which for me respresent a removal of fun factors) DX2 could turn out to be pretty average from a "fun" perspective.
If the devs could put back some of the removed features, improve the AI, maybe improve some graphics textures if they are at "demo" quality in the full game, etc., and the story is great, maybe the game can reach close to it's potential.
