Ahhh.. what to level up? Just got my first level increase and was awarded with 15 points to allocate. Shld I be a fighter? Or focus on mage since a few of you here said that the fireball is powerful. Or should I play as a Thief like ol Garrett? Please help!!!

Well, I wouldn't use everything on thieving skills if I were you, as being sneaky is bloody hard, and you do get experience for kills. Having moderate skills in one of the other is advisable.

My guy is pretty much evenly fighter and mage. Having good sword skills is my main tactic but I can always turn around and throw a nice hot fireball as a backup.

I am inclined towards a mage too but years of gaming experience tells me that being a fighter will always makes life easier compared to being a mage.
Abt Thief and sneaking.. true enough but it allows one to pick pocket :-) Sweet!
Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Though I went with the Thief style of play I didn't find pick pocketing very useful. I was always caught no matter how high my stealth was. I did find it handy to invest in my lockpicking skills as well as projectiles. Being a stealthy player with good bow skills makes for interesting long distance one-shot kills. To complement this I also invensted in Dexterity and Stength at the expense of Intelligence and Constituition.
However, stealth seems to break down in odd ways where after 2 shots if the enemy isn't dead he IMMEDIATLY knows where you are. That part sucks.
Is it possible to finish the game as a Thief or Mage? Given that you HAVE to create something near the end makes me think that no matter what you evetually have to be a fighter to win.

You need a Close Combat skill of at least 50 to finish the game. I would think you should be quite a bit higher than that. (this is my assumption due to what you have to create)

..to raise close combat skill above 60 (maximum requirement for my weapon)??
Has anybody tried to put CC to 100?? any difference when whacking,
example a lich??

I'm playing as a Thief/Mage [bah, what does a non-fighter do with all that cash? The only things you CAN buy are weapons and armour, which are useless without skill points :erg:] and only use my weapons to kill the odd rat [too hard to aim Magic Missles at scurrying rats ;)].

no minumum requirement for the sword that I created. I'm playing mostly as a mage, which is hard at times, but fun never-the-less.

Thanks Twisty. I just assumed you needed CC 50 to use the saber.
