My enchantment skills are high, as are all my skills. I have a varity of weapons, armor, and magic items. I have yet to enchant anything I've kept but I have played with enchanting by doing it myself. Here is where the confussion comes. What is the purpose of the high value gems ? ( AND) What items need enchantment levels that high ? The reason I ask: I have put Ebony and Daedric items up to enchant but the screen says I only need 400 value gems to enchant them. I've also noticed that the amount of enchantment an item can hold is really low -- like 15 or lower. What items have a high enough enchant level to be worth enchanting ? I mean Daedric stuff is really low or nonexistent.

Clothing and jewelry have high enchantment capacities...
Exquisite shirts, skirts, pants, robe(I think): 60
Exquisite belt: 40
Exquisite rings, amulets: 120
Don't know about shoes

My mistake that my gem values are so high. I cast the spell after killing the Saint and not before, this tripped a program bug making the value unusually high. Golden Saint should be at 400 not 80,000. The resale value is 80, 000 but the actual enchantment value is 400 -- a least in the inventory enchantment screen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~new ?
1) The bow itself is not used as a striking weapon, so what's the point in enchanting a bow ?
2) What items/effects can you use the constant effect button ?
just to let u know, that is no bug or anything, the enchant value and resell value haev absolutely NO correlation. Take vivec, in azura's star, it has a resell value of 5000000 (5 million) but an enchant value of 1000 (which is still the highest in the game)
Since we're talking about enchanting, here is my question: does the same soul in different gems have different charges? For example, if my golden saint in a grand soul gem gets me 400, would it get me more in Azura's star?
Also, regarding the clothing: all of the clothing, except the "special" clothing (such as "Mr. Jacks Fine Guar-skin Shoes" or something like that), has an enchantment value equal to half its selling price, so a ring worth 30 gold will have 15 enchantment "points".
to eater's questions: a golden saint will always have the same enchant no matter what gem u have it in (grand or azuras). and most things haev enchant value half of their reg. value but not all. take Skink's ammy, worth 100, enchant value of something else (dont remember, but its 120 or under)
