What the hell are you talking about? Bad body awareness animations have been in games for years. Look at Condemned. EM isn't "experimenting" with anything, they're just following a stupid trend that's taking a while to not look like ass. Outlast sort of did it, but that's because the game is a very heavily scripted, cinematic experience that doesn't really allow for much deviation.

Basically I think that Thief 1 and 2 are pure classics and I am actually very upset with how they have to have this stupid "reboot" idea. To me I truly think that it is ridiculously pathetic how they are so uncreative that they to resort to such desperate ideas. Doesn't anyone else think the same? It just seems so stupid that they even got to make this game because they really don't deserve to since they're kind of ruining it. They really in my opinion are basically trying to spit on the other games and trying to make it look like it's better than the others when it really isn't. Yeah the graphics may be better than thief 1 and 2 but that can never make it top the other thief games because I truly think it is failing at trying to be as true to the rest of the games as it possibly can and that kind of makes me sad :(

"Uncreative" isn't the word that I would use, because doesn't it actually take
more creativity to create something totally new? I too would have liked to see a proper sequel, by the way, but I don't see this reboot as such a bad thing either.

Well on the uncreative thing, I don't actually think that they're uncreative I just think that they could have done a little better but don't get me wrong I am still excited to see what it's like but not so much to the point where it's overwhelmingly exciting.
Also the part where I said they're kind of trying to make it seem better than the classics is kind of true in my opinion since they had to go so far that they had to reboot it, I mean come on "REBOOTING" it is kind of going a little too far. Heh I guess since they got rid of Steven Russell they're just trying to make fans of his voice not too mad since you know if it's a reboot then that means it has nothing to do with the past events so really it has nothing to do with Garretts old voice A.K.A. Steven Russell's amazing voice, just shitty Romano Orzari's voice which isn't as good enough.:nono::grr::(

That's just it. They are not trying. Instead of taking the things that worked in Thief and making them look better, they are barely stitching together imitations of the features around their fancy visuals. If they would be trying to improve on what the previous games did, they wouldn't be compromising any of the functionality of the features that they are decorating with nice visuals.
Instead of
"peeking mode" -Garrett's hands would find the wall on their own as the player gets close enough. Instead of
"painting frame searching mode" -Garrett's hand would follow the player's aim around the painting when in range, or the player could simply see the button underneath the frame. Instead of locking the player in
"lockpicking mode", Garrett would place the picks into the lock when the player is close enough and facing the right way. Instead of restrictive ladder climbing, there would be a set of movements that the game would use to visualize climbing, hanging, and jumping on and off ladders. And instead of
"Garrett jumps over a gap of 128 Unreal Map Units -animation" there would be a jump feature that is animated normally.

So you're saying TDS never locked you into "lockpicking mode" and the new one is the devil for doing it?

I'd be okay with that. Some series need to be put to rest after a while. Thief is one of them -- and, if I'm being honest, one of my favourite series ever, Metroid, needs to be another, before we get another Other M.
