This ships soon! Man, that really snuck up on me! I can't wait until some of you get your hands on it and race in here to bitch and moan. It's like late '03/early '04 all over again.

Also, I found this in the gamespot review.
"Fans of the third game in the series, Thief: Deadly Shadows, will recall that game ending with Garrett meeting a young girl who, as is heavily implied with references to Garrett's own street orphan origins, will go on to become his apprentice. With Eidos Montreal's reboot picking up this exact plot thread, I couldn't help but wonder: is this new Thief actually a direct narrative sequel to Deadly Shadows?"
"It's more reboot than sequel," game director Nicolas Cantin replies, cryptically. "We don't say necessarily that it's the same girl. But we all know the end of Deadly Shadows, so, yes, there's a big link to be done there."

So in other words, it's similar to the New 52 which carried quite a few things over from the final state of the old DC comics continuity but a lot of details were changed. That's more or less how I predicted it.

Same here. At its most basic, a reboot is a retelling of an old story, using the same parts in new ways. It doesn't necessarily mean they're scraping everything entirely and starting from scratch.
Also, if you read the Strategy Informer preview up in Brethren's new thread, the Hammerites and Keepers are a part of the old fiction, they've just been chased out of the city. Their buildings, artifacts, and all that good stuff are still lying around everywhere.

Sounds interesting though. I'm mainly only familar with some Marvel. Sorry, a bit ignorant with DC. I also read that there is newspaper in the game that says the baron has been ridding the city of all the old religions in favor of his own. This is consistent since it seems we won't be seeing any Hammerites. But, I find it hard to imagine being able to get rid of the children of the master builder. With their kind of following. They were just as strong in authority as the city watch, if not more powerful than the watch.
Edit: That newspaper is referencing the strategy informer review. I must of posted about the same time as you.

Maybe. But I personally would prefer a
first person sneaker.
If you like first person, try STALKER. Sneaking should be done in 3rd person, so that you could be more aware of the surroundings.

Have you heard of a little game called Thief? By which I mean Thief: the Dark Project, or its sequel...

Yeah I found that post odd.

Riiiight...because it's so realistic being able to see someone coming up behind you.
It's as if you're completely unaware what forum you're posting in.

To be fair, we're supposed to be playing characters with nearly supernatural stealth and awareness skills in most games.
