You're not paying attention. Read my last sentence again.

You're the one not paying attention.
The brothel is in the library. Not A library - THE library. The map is modelled on the library from Thief 3. Not the idea of the library, the actual in-game library. They can say they're not making a sequel, and it's not a pure sequel, but it has a lot of sequel-like elements in ti.

The brothel is in the old Keeper library. The one FROM Thief 3.
Sounds like after Thief 3 to me.
Garrett hasn't lost his eye, and the clocktower hasn't been destroyed. There is no continuity.

Basso is a fence, and Jenivere is a bird. And Garrett wasn't raised by the Keepers.
@SE - Within a six word span, you say the library is both "THE library" and also "modeled on the library." So which is it? Give it up man. Face it, this is not a sequel in any way. EM is doing their own thing.

Found this quote from Stephane Roy, it pretty much says it all:
"It's 'Thief' because we want to restart it, to reinvent it," says Stéphane Roy, producer on the game. "We want it to be part of the future, the next generation, and not part of the past. It's not a sequel. It's something new."
Haha, I don't think you can take everything the producer's say to be absolute truth. They need to market the idea somehow. They obviously aren't going to say it is a reboot/sequel when that would confuse anyone who isn't a long time fan.

We can probably expect a new, reinvented 'Thief 2' after this one :erg:

It's the library from Thief 3, and the in-game map is modelled on the map of the in-game library in Thief 3.
This isn't hard.
The brothel's core in-game architecture is the same as that of the library. If you'd just finished Thief 3 you'll recognize the map in NuThief because it's the same location.
But no, it's not a sequel at all.

I think they're just recycling parts of Thief 3's city for their version.

Then why bother building a level on the actual level architecture?
