I'd really like to have some armour made, so I went looking for the ore. I found some, but when I tried to pick it up, there was nothing in the 'container'! I tried all the lumps of ore in that particular rock, nothing. Is that it? If I go back there, will it be there then? Do I need to increase luck, or some such? I have not picked it up before, so that's not it. And how much ore is available in the game? From reading the m0use.net hints, it looks like there isn't a lot of it around, so maybe I won't be able to get the whole suit made. Does anyone know?
I found an adamantium helm in the sewers somewhere, so I shan't be needing to have one of these made; is there any other adamantium armour lying around anywhere, so that if and when I find the ore I don't waste it on an item I might find later?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm...I think collecting raw materials from rocks works the same way as picking plants and other ingredients, i.e. you can see it and click on it but there may not be anything actually available to take. You just have to keep looking for other sources. I don't know how far you've explored the caves under Mournhold yet but they are huge and there are a number of different areas where you can collect adamantium. I can't be any more specific than that as I haven't bothered with it myself but there should be enough for you to have a suit made. It's pretty heavy though so if you do find some you might want to have a recall/intervention spell handy so you don't have to carry it back, otherwise you might find yourself over-encumbered.
Adamantium armor was not originally included in Morrowind, but there is an (official) plugin which places some in the game. I think it goes to different locations so you have to travel round and collect it.
If you're really keen on having some you've got 4 options: download the official plugin from elderscrolls.com, keep hunting round the caves for ore to get a custom suit made, use the console to add ore to your inventory, or kill Apelles Matius and take his suit. At least, I think that's adamantium he's wearing....he's the guy wandering round Ebonheart who you have to talk to about the Dark Brotherhood when you first get attacked in your sleep. Seems a bit mean to kill him after he's been so helpful, doesn't it? :)
Note that unless you get a custom suit made, you'll end up with generic male armor......
Happy hunting :)

Thanks again Jordy, what would I do without you?
Just one clarification, please:

Are we talking with or without plugin? Does the armour you get made match the gender of your character? If so, that's cool.
In Daggerfall everything you found/bought was female if you were a female character, and presumably (never tried it) male with a male one.
And, Jordy, what are you doing posting at 6.39 AM? Are you so hardcore that you've been up all night, or have you got up UNNATURALLY early?

Yeah, I liked that system in Daggerfall-they had a lot of nice clothes too. I miss those nice brightly coloured off-the-shoulder evening dresses, and the tiny wraparound skirts and the low-cut cuirasses, and the cropped tops....there's just not enough skimpiness in Morrowind. Stupid conservative Dunmer :)
Ahem. Anyway, Morrowind armor is generic by default, meaning that anyone can wear it, but it's more of a male design really. Not usually a problem but it doesn't really flatter us girls and some of the bulkier cuirasses look too big and clumsy on female characters, especially the little ones like Wood Elves. The only way you can get armor specially tailored for women is through plugins (there are any number available) or, with Tribunal, by getting the Mournhold armorer to make the custom stuff for you. So the answer to your question is yes, the custom armor matches your gender. That's the only thing that is "custom" about it though, the rest of it is just standard glass, ebony or adamantium gear.

Erm..well a bit of both actually. Like you, I'm practically nocturnal and often stay up very late. As a result I get tired in the early evening, and last night I fell asleep on the sofa. Woke up about 4 am, feeling quite refreshed, and decided to go for my usual internet session. It got to about 7 am and I decided it wasn't worth going to bed, as I knew if I did I would sleep till about 3 pm and I had quite a lot to do. So I just stayed up :cheeky: I've even done that on weekday nights sometimes- my internal clock is very strange. My dad thinks I'm really weird, but my pet mice and hamsters think I'm normal :)
Edit: And yes, that makes me a total hypocrite for questioning Forsythe
about getting up at 3am to watch his TV show. I thought I'd point that out before he does ;)

I have the xbox version of Morrowind and I am a little confused about the custom made armour. Is there a place I can go to get this or can I do it myself?
Jordana Chal on 19/1/2003 at 20:51
Unfortunately not, the custom armor is one of the features of the Tribunal expansion, which as you probably know by now is a PC-only product. But if you're playing a male character, the "custom" armor is in fact no different from the armor you can already find/buy in the main game. Only difference is if you're a female character, then the cuirass is tailored to a more feminine shape.....

Jordy: I think your sleeping habits pass as hardcore. Unnatural is when you go to bed before 11pm and wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed at some horrible ungodly hour (like in single figures type of hour). Believe me, I know. I am currently making up for all the years I had to be up early. I am most emphatically NOT a morning person, although I can be rendered human by application of coffee (instant human, just add coffee, that's me)
Back to nostalgic musings on Daggerfall fashion- I loved the names of the clothes. 'Formal Brassiere of Shocking', anyone? The frilly dresses were most impractical. Good selection of colours and styles, too. Shame you could only see yourself in the inventory screen. When I first got Morrowind, I thought I'd mostly be playing in the 1st person view, but I now prefer the 'camera just behind you' option and only use 1st person for close-up inspections and for precision tasks (arranging nick-nacks and shooting at people, mostly)
And in Daggerfall, I could choose my own underwear.

Hehe I go to bed in a single digit hour (Usually around 1am) and get up at 8am and work all day (from 9am to 6pm). I guess I'm just a morning, afternoon and night person! :D
My personal favourite Daggerfall article of clothing is the 'Thong of Fireballs'. I also liked the fact that you could change the appearance of most of the clothing by double clicking on it.

Ania-praise be! Finally someone who shares my definition of unnatural sleeping habits. I really can't understand those people who are up at the crack of dawn even at weekends. My mum sometimes refers to "lying in" until 8 a.m. What's with that? It doesn't count as a proper lie-in unless it's after 12 pm when you get up, in my book.
I play in 3rd person mode as well-I like being able to see me at all times. I've learned to use bows and arrows in this mode as well....I can now drop a cliff racer with a single arrow even when I can just barely see it in the distance
Tell you what I don't miss about Daggerfall; the dreaded "
HALT!!!" chorus :D
