I'm a Square Enix fan, for one, and Eidos is involved, for two. Wait, wait - for one, it's Thief!!! Of course I will be buying it!! Here's hoping it will utilize a good editor like Dromie...:laff:

No. It's not Thief imo; it's NuThief with NuGarrett and from the videos I've seen, EM is in the process of creating an action-based stealth game with all sorts of bells & whistles designed to help those who have the attention spans of gnats. It's a reboot, a reinvention, and in my opinion has very little to do with the world of Thief I've come to know and love. Just because they're calling the game Thief and have named the main protagonist Garrett does not make it Thief. NuThief does DX:HR does Assassins Creed does Mirror's Edge does Dishonored. I'm rather surprised EM didn't throw some CoD in there as well.
No thank you.

Game is still work in progress. So, I wouldn't be sure of it.

Absolutely, seems like a game I don't want to miss.

Before E3 demo:
I'll buy it immediately and play it.
After E3 demo:
I'm still ON THE FENCE.
Before E3 Thief (along with The Witcher 3 and Watch_Dogs) was one of the most anticipated games in many articles on the net. After E3 it is mentioned by journalist as one of the biggest disappointements or meh games. :(

Interesting that you say this because if you go to the original preview/anticipation threads of AC and ME there are a lot of Thief fans that talked about how exciting AC and ME were because they could imagine a Thief-like implementation of each. I was one of those that totally saw it for ME but disliked the idea of a 3rd person Thief with AC type wall climbing of push up with no skill.
Dishonored is heavily inspired by Thief anyway.
I said years ago that upgrade options a la DX would suit Thief will if you want to appeal to a wider audience. I've always said you need to have the core in place first though, and let people play it Hard Core stripped down. Seems they are doing this so natch - I'm looking forward.
I'll get it on release if it gets good reviews. Otherwise I'll wait for a sale.

It's not going to be like any of the Thief games we know and love, but there will be enough thiefyness in there to warrant a purchase. I'll be getting it on day one.
And I think most people here who say they aren't are just full of shit. ;)

I will be giving it a shot, yes.

Currently: not buying, playing or borrowing, but may watch it when Spoiler Warning picks it up.
This is what I wrote in the previous thread:

I'm between "absolutely not" and "watch on Youtube" currently. At this point, there has been nothing to convince me it's a worthy Thief game or even a good game by itself.
The overwhelming impression I get is that this will be a modern game modernized for modern audiences for maximum market penetration. Read: streamlined down to the lowest common denominator to try to meet unrealistic market projections.
Personally, I don't care if every single raindrop is simulated. I'm fine with graphics that are just good enough. Give me solid stealth mechanics and an AI that doesn't embarrass itself.
And this is my updated list of gripes...
Gameplay:
-- Blink-like dashing between the shadows.
-- Sticky beams you can't fall off of.
-- Designated rope arrow shoot spots.
-- Timed parkour/escape sequences.
-- RPG progression.
-- QTEs.
-- Loot glint.
-- Creep hands.
-- No forward lean.
-- Third person sections.
-- Inner monologue based directions/clues.
Thematic stuff:
-- Garrett seems to be have been morphed into some kind of an edgy emoninja.
-- The magic has been taken out of the series. Literally.
-- Modern swearing... taff the taffing taffers.
-- Ultraviolence.
-- Absence of Eric Brosius's awesome music.
-- Absence of Stephen Russell's awesome characters.

This is going to have to get bad reviews for me to not buy it. There is an entire universe of difference between 'not quite up to Thief 1 and 2' and 'not an awesome game', and this could still be up there with the greats. Maybe.
