...after a while you'll get used to it i guess...
Not if I don't buy it and don't play it I won't, which is going to be the case unless some fairly radical and highly unlikely changes are made.

EM has made it pretty clear that they're revamping the whole 'Thief lore' thing to suit
their reboot. I think the Baron in T4 sounds pretty generic and from what I've read/seen/heard about T4, it's debatable as to whether EM is building 'on some other facets of the lore' or (as I said previously) just inventing NuLore to suit their NuGame. I wouldn't expect any references to the Keepers, Hammerites, Mechanists, etc., to be more than passing in T4. I still think that EM's naming a bird 'Jenivere' and using a few old, familiar names from the original Thief games is about as in-depth reference to the old lore that we're gonna get. And yeah; imo EM's already botched things with T4.
Some Taffers here keep insisting that EM is staying true to the core elements of the original Thief games by dubbing T4 as a 'stealth' game. So then how come IGN gave honorable mention to T4 in their E3 'Best
Action Game' category? If I wanted to play an action game I'd just load up DX:HR. Again. I'm surprised that I'm surprised that T4 is already being considered more an action than stealth game.
:(
Well, to be fair, IGN probably doesn't have a "Best Stealth Game" category. Even if they did, I don't think they're qualified to decide what the best anything is, as far as I'm concerned. That's not really something to hold against T4, among all of the legitimate nonsense they have going around.
That said, I won't say that they're not trying to make a stealth game, since they've been pushing it as one both through PR and gameplay demonstrations, but I take issue with the actual method in which they're developing this stealth game. I hope they make some adjustments while they still can, and maybe push the game back six more months than their deadline, so that maybe they can salvage this, but being that they've already dumped so much time, and I'd assume resources, into this game, fighting for extra time might not be easy to do. They do however have a whole year to finish, so it's not too late to improve what is being done here.

The gameplay video they showed focused (pun-intended) far too much on the close combat mechanics. While I understand they want to show them off, since some of them include new features, I'd be more satisfied if they showed a full video of nothing but stealth and stealing. They can relegate a whole other gameplay vid to showing off Garrett's "focus" abilities and new combat moves, if they want to, but first I want to see conclusively how they handled the whole stealth package. The arrows seem to be working okay. Hiding in the shadows seems to be working as well, but I'd need to see it for a longer period of time to get a good idea of how it works now and whether they've really thought it over and handled it well.
BTW, are you forced to "Vulcan nerve-pinch" every single guard now ? Did they show the blackjack in action at least once ? I haven't seen it. I know I'd prefer blackjacking to "nerve-pinching".

It's kind of embarrassing they would want to show off such terrible combat at a convention where Dark Souls 2 was showing off. Should have played to the games strengths, if it has any.

Which video was focussed too much on close combat mechanics? Didn't they only enter close combat once by accident?

It certainly seemed like it. I don't think it was focused on close combat mechanics.

I'm definitely going to try it.
So at least I can know what I'm talking about if it becomes necessary to trash it every chance I get till the day I die.
But I cant promise I'll play the whole thing.
I've put down games on the first level before if its awfulness is too obvious to expect anything better.
(I think I made it 3 levels into Duke Nukem Forever before deleting it. Probably due to its mixed bag of developers.)
