(
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/3/14/121020/253) This is very disturbing...
I've worried about this ever since the news that the FBI and NSA were wiretapping, and under the draconian leadership the United States is now in, it was only a matter of time. I wonder what the people who start bringing this up will be branded by the right wing? "Soft of terror", "traitors", etc. I'm sure at some point Bill Frist will get up on Fox News and tell people that he "hopes the terrorists aren't watching right now, because of the horrible way in which we're undercutting our President during wartime" and whine and cry about how the media's blowing this way out of purportion...but this is exactly what Nixon did that (should have) got him thrown out of office. How long will it take for the rest of the country to get this news, or do you, like me, expect that the "liberal" media will continue blowing the President and his staff and barely mention this at all?

Wow. I didn't know about that one. But even so, it's different. I can *almost* understand GOP staffers doing that, but using something like the FBI, which isn't supposed to be political in any way to do your dirty work is something else.

Oh shutup. This story was above the fold on both Seattle papers this morning.

Do I live in Seattle?
Was it in the Merc on my desk at 12:30 this morning?

We're not even sure you live in this reality.

Eh, so what if the FBI and the NSA are spying on Liberals? It's not like anyone can do anything about it. Sure, theoretically if the entire population were to go against the government, it could be stopped completely, but 99% of the population is too stupid to understand that we can do that.

Oh, good, I was having difficulty drawing comparisons between the Vietnam War era and now.
Seriously, is anyone remotely suprised? Every time I read something like this, I think of that little sound byte of Bob Dole going "It's your money...IT'S YOUR MONEY!". I don't know what bothers me more - that the FBI is being used like this, or that my tax dollars are being spent on this. While all my teachers have to commute from out of town because they are too poor to actually afford a home in the city. grrrr.
That said, it is true that this probably isn't that much other then a horrendous waste of money/violation of civil rights- it's not like the Center for Peace and Justice is committing horrible crimes that the FBI can get them for.
