Metal dawn, the subject of discussion was the corpse. No matter how despicable the individual may have been in life, once dead they're just a corpse. No more, no less. Despising or scorning a corpse is meaningless posturing - no matter how much you may have despised or scorned the person's conduct before they died. That conduct is, for the corpse, quite entirely over and done with.
You might as well just go to the beach and hate a random rock.

Hey Holocaust survivors! Hitler's dead! That means you can bury the hatchet and stop hating him!
"Go to beach and hate a random rock."
Why don't you go to the beach and bury your head in the sand? Obviously there's too hate for you around here.
Just so we're clear:
I'm not for any real side here, save my own. Both parties irritate me. The Republicans always suck themselves off and the Democrats only rise to the occasion when there's a convenient scandal. I hate this war, but I respect the troops (even if I might not think they are fighting for a real cause).

Well, the day is a mere 46 minutes old, but I will eat my stereo if I hear anything more retarded in the remaining 23 hours and 14 minutes of it.
That's a dangerous wager to make, especially here in Commchat.

What he was saying, is hate the ideas he stood for, the acts he did, not the piece of biomatter.

So you're saying people like Osama bin Laden are terrorists for terrorism's sake, and that the cause is largely irrelevant, save for a desire to restore the Caliphate?

Yes it is.It is terrorism fror terrorisms sake.It is bringing people under the heal of his version of Islam through fear and intimidation and maintaining that fear by turning Islam into a rote set of laws to be followed at the barrel of a gun.Ask the Taliban they know.

“I grabbed her little sister and put her in front of me. As the bullets began to fly, the blood sprayed from between her eyes, and then I laughed maniacally. . .I blew those little fuckers to eternity . . .They should have known they were fucking with the Marines.”
Good fuckin' times.

And both Al Queda, or the Taliban really couldn't give two shits about America, if it weren't for its involvement in the Middle East. Check out Osama's history - he got really pissed because of "Infidels in our holy sites". As for the Taliban, they were concerned about keeping those under their yoke faithful, rather then the "Destroy the American way of life" bullshit that the Bush administration spews.

If you go to war you need to dehumanise your enemy in order to kill them. Most people would have trouble killing other people but if you tell yourself they are subhuman then you can kill without the guilt. So why does it come as a shock to people to hear marines singing this?
Rogue Keeper on 15/6/2006 at 13:05
Well if they'd sing about killing armed combatants and terrorists I would accept it somehow... Of course, soldiers are usually simps. And it nicely contracts with "Operation Iraqi Freedom".
Convict on 15/6/2006 at 13:26
Oh yes of course soldiers are going to make complex analytical predjudices about killing the enemy! - not!
Was there any war where soldiers thought the civilians were ok but just attacked the enemy combatants? I doubt it. Soldiers on all sides go around mistreating civilians on the enemies' side doing things they wouldn't do to people on their side.
What's a simp?
