@TNT
A belated congratulations. I've had 2 friends who have changed their names. One for much the same reason that you did. It make a huge difference for her.
The other changed her first name to the one that her mother told her they would have named her if they had "wanted her". She still has problems, but it made her stronger. It helped her decide who she is.
It sounds like you have very good reasons and that you already decided who you were 6 years ago. It's just official now and the world has to acknowledge it.
@Enchantermon
Unless someone asks for it by being a moron/jerk/dense, etc, they only really pick on people they are terribly fond of.
...but you already knew that. :D

So....what was your original name and what did you change it to, just out of curiousity?

Bloody hell, that's about as cold as it gets. :eek: Still, good for her! Sounds like a pretty sneaky way to get them back for saying that to begin with.

Yeah, or, at the least, I decided who I
didn't want to be, and that was his daughter.

I'm just a little worried about what'll happen when my father finds out. :erm: My mom's not going to tell him, and I haven't spoken to him in years, but people talk. Either he'll take the hint that I don't want anything to do with him, or he'll blow up. He's already hit me and broken into the house, and he didn't have any reason for doing either, so I'm getting edgy at that thought. :sweat:
Still, it's not something I need to worry about right now. He'll probably be the last one to find out, and none of the people my mom worked with knew until a few days ago. :angel: Writer's imagination is probably just making me paranoid, but I'll still watch my step.
@Lazarus411 -- I ain't about to say my names on a public forum. ;) If I've been chatting with someone long enough to get on a first name basis with them, then they can know.
Post 4,600! \o/

Hopefully not. After all this time, maybe you'll never hear at all.
Good luck.
(I take it that the break in was also years ago....)

Yeah, it was, I think it was the late winter or spring after he got kicked out, so maybe 5 years ago now? Knowing my intuition, it just might've been February. It's razor sharp in February, and I faked being sick to stay home that day, so I was there when it happened. :eek:
Parker'sSire on 15/5/2006 at 05:09
5 years is a long time... hopefully he already took the hint and won't even notice (or better still, even care).
TheNightTerror on 15/5/2006 at 05:38
Well, he's still sending me money on Christmas and my birthday through my mother, (although he had to ask her when the latter was this year :cheeky:) with notes that always say something along the general lines of 'PLEASE call me'. I've been ignoring the notes for 6 years, but he hasn't stopped them.

Thanks. I've learned to roll with the punches. :erg:

Well, yeah, although I'm not sure that's always the case, but at times it is.

I have a hammer (and used to have a crescent wrench) in my bedside table, and I'm usually within easy reach of my Swiss Army knife, so I think I should be okay. ;) Plus, we finally have 911 service out here, but even if we didn't, I still remember the police's phone number from 6 years ago. :eek:
