Ooo, sounds fun Kolya, can I get in on this?
Sure, but bring your own Salami.

I didn't realise Devo had any problems with chicks.

I think I understand you now, Phatose. She should be punished for having sex.
Got it!
Thanks for participating.
Oh right. We certainly don't want to punish her for having sex. So instead we'll punish someone else for her having sex.

Wait, so in the 'sole exception' of rape you mentioned above, this 'punishing someone else' magically becomes ok, or what?
And what if the reason for late term abortion (point to remember, this is almost ALWAYS the reason for late term abortion) is "it's growing all fucked up and will kill you both if not removed"?
Who are we punishing there?
EDIT: GAH! Fuck you, page 6. :(

Well, someone's got to be punished for having sex, lets face it.
Turtle on 3/6/2009 at 15:34
I wanna get in on that.

Someone please explain to me how you can even "punish" something with such a low level of cognitive awareness. We're talking about termination, not torture.
It's not like there are fetal souls sitting around in a void somewhere, crying about how they wish they could have been born.
No, we're not. The entire reason I'm arguing this was that the claim was made that the woman's right to control her body outweighs all other concerns even if we grant that the fetus is alive, a person, and aware.

In all honesty, we're not punishing anyone as far as I'm concerned. Rape is the exception simply because in that situation the woman hasn't already done something to invite the baby into her womb.
Cripes, it's like you people think I'm actually anti-abortion, when I'm really just against the notion that a woman's right to control her body outweighs all other concerns, and includes the right to terminate a fetus even if we grant that it is a fucking person.

Bonus points for 'Cripes'

Surely you can't be so dense that you fail to see how the second sentence obviously contradicts the first?
Hideously boring abortion debate aside, watching the various pro-life groups exclaim how shocked and appalled they are at this turn of events, I can't help but think of this:
Quote:
Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
