Yeah the lol ones might seem weird at first but they get funny...
The best part is that I remember almost everything from the 90s in that ytmnd. Everything. Well it's my generation and I'm learning to love it.

Oh yes, because a group of people can sue anyone for making fun of them. Scientology can't do shit to them.
except, you know, cost them millions of dollars in legislation fees.

...there are plenty to whom this is A NEW THING™.
Indeed. Not intending to be an arse in any way, it should be pointed out that not everyone spends countless hours just browsing around the internet. Some might consider it to be an epic dissipation of time, but no more than TV of course.
Taking issue with people about Old Hat (in many cases) is as daft as giving someone a hard time about having heard Beethoven's 5th symphony for the first time and wanting to talk about it. Besides, the internet would be pretty shallow if it was just about novelty.
Fingernail on 27/6/2006 at 13:04
Yeah but the issue is that the discovery of all these things can (and perhaps should) be a purely personal one.
Why should you feel the need to go on the internet or anywhere to announce your wonderful discovery of the music of Beethoven or the joys of YTMND?
The only real reason why people do this is to be applauded by others for their taste, originality or whatever. The big news is that I (and apparently some others) don't care what Scots_Taffer or anyone else has been surfing for on the internet, whether or not I've seen it before.
Now this isn't universal, obviously sometimes links pop up and I do enjoy the fact that people have shared them. That's when we don't mind that people are doing it for themselves primarily and the benefit of others second.
But this is part of a trend (read: the whole fucking internet, especially THE BLOGOSPHERE) of people more or less showing off their knowledge, talent, whatever, on the most free press available to them; the internet.
It's like vanity publishing but it doesn't cost you a thing, so the attraction is that much greater. And we're all guilty.

are we? are we really?
Scots Taffer on 27/6/2006 at 13:24
TL;DR: I can play the guitar, but I'm a bit of a knob - so I will say NYAHNYAH to any links provided?
PigLick on 27/6/2006 at 13:25
you can play the guitar? shit.
actually I dont think the fact that nail plays guitar or whatever is relevant. I think less posting of links that are prolific on most major sites would be nice for a while.
oh yeh then stitch or someone will chime in "oh yeh good way to kill the forums dude, lets not post anything at all" FUCKING YES YES YES
Scots Taffer on 27/6/2006 at 13:28
I'll play whatever you want, baby.
And hey, this whole topic - as has been ably demonstrated - was just to offer a platform for people to share funny YTMNDs, it's not like that doesn't mean there's going to be the hater brigade that shit on anything regardless. I personally find Fingernail's entire manner in this thread to be a bit offensive overall, so why the fuck not hit back with the fact that his so-called attack on blogosphere is a bit hypocritical.

oh shit oh no beaten at my own game
