Love it or hate it, YTMND (You're The Man Now Dog) is quite firmly a part of the internet. It has been growing steadily for a while now, and I remember the earliest YTMNDs that were popping up with some regularity like (
http://itsatrap.ytmnd.com) It's a Trap! and (
http://timetraveler.ytmnd.com/) Safety Not Guaranteed. They are funny either because they reference something in pop culture so identifiable or because it's just random. Much like other very popular YTMNDs such as (
http://ualuealuealeuale.ytmnd.com/) Batman going ... uuuuuh and other pieces of netlore, such as (
http://picard.ytmnd.com/) the Picard song. Their appeal is timeless.
Also, there's just pure (
http://msfcbf.ytmnd.com/) insanity on there too. But that can be part of fun of mindlessly browsing there.
Now, whether or not you understand the subculture that's lurking beneath it and whether you get the dichotomy of YTMND and PTKFGS (Punch The Keys For God's Sake), it doesn't really matter. I spent a bit of time delving into the archives of available YTMNDs and eventually understood the difference and realised it was insanity occurring within a community that I just don't want to get my head around.
Yet at the same time, there are fads that start like (
http://niggastolemybike.ytmnsfw.com/) Nigga Stole My Bike that spawned a whole cacophony of spin-offs that not only followed the (
http://todatoppa.ytmnd.com/) exploits of "nigga" but also of the (
http://nsmbdown.ytmnd.com/) community's attempts to destroy the fad and (
http://niggastoledansmissile.ytmnsfw.com/) those who wouldn't let it die. I find these delightful. Not so much when they start getting bizarre and mixing in other fads, like (
http://nsconanb.ytmnd.com/) the obsession with Conan and a (
http://conanbike64.ytmnd.com/) further manipulation of this, not to mention (
http://connerycaughthim.ytmnsfw.com/) the obligatory Sean Connery angle and (
http://sovietrussiabike.ytmnsfw.com/) In Soviet Russia schtick, but the humour of these remains rooted in the subcultures and subtrends from which they evolved. Of course, there are always just examples of pure genius in (
http://moorcovetedsteed.ytmnd.com/) adapting a fad. If there weren't such an insanely geeky and nerdy community, some of these gems wouldn't emerge because presumably they'd have better things to do with their time than debate whether or not PUNCH THE KEYS FOR GOD'S SAKE is a more appropriate use of Sean Connery than YOU'RE THE MAN NOW DOG.
There are parts I don't get. Like any of the following (with the exception of silent movie):
(
http://steamsteamlol.ytmnd.com/)
(
http://lolenterprise.ytmnd.com/)
(
http://lolmicrosoft.ytmnd.com/)
(
http://lolmargarine.ytmnd.com/)
(
http://lolvoyager2.ytmnd.com/)
(
http://ytmndlols.ytmnd.com/)
(
http://bushbushlol.ytmnd.com/)
(
http://loltehmatrix.ytmnd.com/)
(
http://lolsilentfilm.ytmnd.com/)
However, there's something beautiful about watching things that are dear to a lot of people, or at least are very vivid in their memory, like watching Star Trek TNG and watching the cheesiness of past being manipulated into some horrifically hilarious and modern internet trend. I've talked about the Picard stuff above, but little YTMNDs like (
http://rikerpeeks.ytmnd.com/) Riker Peeks are just gold. Who actually thought that up? Honestly. It cracks me up.
There is this and then there are the minor fads that sweep through and require all previous fads to be revisioned, such as the recent A-Ha craze that has created (
http://ahhapicardchunk.ytmnd.com/) A-Ha Picard vs Chunk to replace (
http://chunkpicard.ytmnd.com/) Chunk vs Picard.
Recently there has been a tendency towards making everything with Bill Cosby, and I can't say all the results were great but (
http://drecosby.ytmnd.com/) Dr. Dre and Cosby and (
http://cosbybebop.ytmnd.com/) Cosby Bebop are among some of the funniest YTMNDs I've seen in a long time.
So anyway, as for the aim of this thread, share the non-standard, funny or interesting YTMNDs you've come across but none so sidelined in the SA/YTMND subculture bullshit that other people can't enjoy them. I've already listed a few brilliant ones above but here are a couple more because I'm a nice guy with too much time on my hands:
(
http://stansellseverything.ytmnd.com/) Guybrush wants everything but what Stan wants to sell.
(
http://cornonthekabob.ytmnd.com/) Duel of the Fates lyrics.
(
http://eeevvveeerrryyyooonnneee.ytmnd.com/) What do you mean "everyone?"
(
http://censoredporn.ytmnsfw.com/) Censored Porn!!

I've never heard of this, and have no idea what you're talking about...why is it called You're The Man Now Dog?

This is the kind of wikipedia article which leaves me wondering about the bluring line between reality and Internet realities. The whole thing sounds like it could be real, but it sounds like complete crap at the same time.

Have to admit though, this is the first time i remember hearing about YTMND. Ah well, maybe i'm getting too old for internet culture and slang. Its like that "hip-hop" and "thrash-metal" those darn kids listen to on their "boom-box" in the park. Meaningless.

The worrisome part is that I'm not a goon, so I didn't stumble across this in SA. I knew a few TTLG regulars have SA accounts, so it's likely they'll know what I'm talking about. Similarly for a proportion of the IRC crew.
Do I have a very accurate temperature gauge for what's hot on the internet? (other than porn, obviously)

YTMND is played out, man.
It's all about YouTubes now.
