Perhaps more interesting is the swimming pool in the courtyard. It provided fool hardy taffers with a useful short cut/escape route from the top floor to the ground floor exit. Perhaps a giant statue or other piece of architecture leap onto and clamber down instead?
Make it a
wading pool to wet one's toes by either wading through it or sitting on the edge (medieval/steampunk footware probably wasn't the most comfortable). You could also have a guard or two sitting on the edge, giving their poor ol' 'dogs' a break (while the Sir is gone and can't punish them for it).
And forget about leaping down from the top floor :tsktsk:.
(At first I misread 'well' and thought you both thought it proper to put an entrance to the sewer right in place of the pool! I thought "What the heck are these guys taking??" :laff:)
You'd obviously leave a small amount of water on the bottom of the sewer floor, as in the other sewer system in the level, right? I actually didn't think geometry could be imported from the OM easily or at all... Guess I was wrong (not knowing much about Unreal doesn't help).
A good first mission. I was going to suggest doing the training one, but maybe that'd be too difficult right off the bat..

Antero90 - Good plan. Definitely worth checking out...
Deadman - yep. I'm sure the sewer systems will have some water for wading. Although I'm quite keen on having a short cut between the floors; probably making it possible to climb down some how, rather than leap from the top ;). I'm not suggesting importing the geometry directly from the original mission by the way - rather reproducing the mission 'by hand' in the new engine (with some artistic license to allow for differences in the engines, updating the visuals and so on)
Heres my plan a.
I've mentally dissected Bafford's manor into 5 distinct sections.
* Ground floor.
* Upper floors.
* Basement.
* Front outside area
* Rear outside area
The ground floor is pretty much the heart of the mission. All the other areas radiate out from there. So I'm going to do the architecture for the ground floor first. Once thats done I'll distribute that section and the other areas can be added. For the most part, the other areas don't particularly connect with each other in any meaningful way. But they do all connect with ground floor.
Hopefully I'll be able to recruit some help to take on some of the other areas - before stitching the whole thing together.

Can I just say this would make me very happy if it worked out. I can just imagine walking by the (loverly bumpmapped and ornate) front entrance and hearing "Hey... I'm going to the bear pits tomorrow. You wanna come with?" :cool:

Not if you're on a 56k modem, you taffer.

One would have to lift content from the original game of course, but I can't see anyone getting any flak for it.
However, I can only think there will be an awful lot of work needed to get the detail level up from '98 standards. It would be wise to use as many prefabs as possible from existing levels...

Anyone had success in importing custom sounds into T3Ed? The sound files from T1 and T2 were all in simple WAV format, so if it handles WAVs, there shouldn't be any trouble.

Of course it'll work with .wav files Tch. I was mainly thinking of vague legalish issues but I don't think it's ever been a problem in practice.

From the transfer rate he mentioned in the other thread, I think it's highly likely he would have better results with the torrent, dialup or not.

lol, I'm using the torrent. 26.1% downladed so far... 18hrs, 2 mins to go...
