Most likely because he doeen't understand the purpose of the graphics, i.e. the whole tripping out effect that I was talking about before. To be fair he has only seen the first 22 minutes, which obviously doesn't represent the film as a whole.

Is that so?

Forgetting that the rotoscope effect is to simulate being high[...]

System shocker, have you ever been high?
The world really LOOKS like a shitty cartoon. A very amusing shitty cartoon.

I just watched the first 22 minutes of it on ign.com, [...] The animation style sort of brings the movie down overall, but serves it's purpose. It just seems to lower the color quality and makes the movie look muddy. And the voice and action synchronization is bad.
Not to labour the obvious, but are you sure the muddiness of the colours and the poor lip-synching weren't just because you were watching an ign-com stream of it rather than at the cinema or on DVD?

I just feel it would have looked better without the animation. So many details are lost with the rotoscope and still not much more put in. Hey, and I also just bought this software (

Maybe if A Scanner Darkly had been in 3D it would have been better. I guess I'm a little spoiled because I got to see Superman Returns in IMAX 3D:eek:.

Imax should better stick to the documentaries.

Terrible movies... projected onto a huge screen... in 3D!

Superman sux, I'm sorry. I can't believe that movie did as well as it did. Maybe because people were curious about it.
Rogue Keeper on 19/7/2006 at 07:36
Every crap looks 2,5 times better in IMAX.

Oh my, looks like this guy has actually grasped the Dick spirit! A really good movie, I have to say. Felt very much like the book. As for Keanu - one may argue whether he played his role well or is simply incapable of acting differently and simply got lucky to have got cast in the right role this time (personally I disagree; anyone remember Point Break?), but IMHO he is really good as Arctor. You can simply feel him quietly, gradually losing it.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Dick canon by the same director. And later on, if he keeps on getting it... Who knows, maybe he would even be able to get Valis onto the screen? That would really be something.
