I'm not sure if you guys heard of this movie, because I certainly didn't. I'm not even sure what it's about, but it's got my interest. A move that thinks outside the freakin box, unlike alot of movies today, and it's only in certain movie theaters....wonderful. That's right, think of every scary movie and say they don't all have the same storyline.

When they started making it, I was very sceptical. ("YET ANOTHER Dick movie? Does Hollywood intend to primitivize every good novel of his? AND KEANU REEVES AS BOB ARCTOR??? Depression!!!") But when I saw the trailer, I have improved my opinion. It's almost an indie film, yet so technically innovative.
So now it's the most anticipated movie of this year for me, although I think I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

I think it looks absolutely cool, yet I'm a bit worried that the look will start to grate after a while. I had that with Sin City - after five minutes I thought, "Yeah, looks cool, but I'd prefer something else now. Like, a film with a plot that wasn't written by a reactionary, hormonally-driven teenager."

I'm almost sure you won't even think of comparing this to Sin City, this doesn't have any comic book backround, even though it ironically looks more comic book-like than most comic book movies.

The comic book style seems kind of gimmicky and I think it might get a little tiresome to watch. I’m not a big fan of Keanu either. Having said all that, it seems like an intriguing movie and I’ll definitely check it out (with an open mind).

Ideally I'd recommend everyone to read (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Scanner_Darkly) the book first, as in case of the movie being a failure, people will be think the material is crap, but the novel is a masterpiece.

Yeah the book is amazing, one of Dick's best in my opinion. And one of my personal favourites, and so I have been waiting for this movie for some time, I actually saw a trailer for it in a cinema over a year ago in canada.
I never thought that the drawing was used to create a comic book style. The book had a very ambiguous narrative, and at the heart of it is really about substance abuse. So I got the feeling that the style in which the movie was made was used to create an almost drug induced hallucination effect. One of the interesting parts about the book is that it is often difficult to discern between what is a hallucination and what is real, so I consider the way in which the movie was made to be spot on.

The graphic effect reminds me most of Waking Life. Hopefully the movie isn't as hard to watch.
