I am very sympathetic to a military strike on an nation which has promised to wipe Israel off the map, but if Iran were even close to having nuclear weapons Israel would surely destroy them. There does not seem to be a point to posturing against Iran if it would be rendered harmless by Israel if there were even the slightest danger.
I agree with what you say about Israel, if the Iranians do try to produce a nuke-the Israelis wouldn't hesitate to flatten them in a second so there is no reason why the US should bog itself deeper in a new war. In fact getting out of Iraq would be a great way to get us out of the way of such a strike, Saddam's gone and they have a new government-whether it succeeds or not will be up to them in the end anyway.

Because starting a war without a plan for what will happen afterwards is kinda silly don't you think?
Bush didn't seem to think so.

After some of the things I've read on many forums and sadly even here on occasion, I've gotten very disgusted by the idiocy from overseas from quite a number of people who obviously hate us but don't have the balls to come out and say it. As for that Aussie tv show, I'm sure they probably came across some of us who could answer their questions but edited them out to suit themselves and their agenda.
I have no idea what you are talking about. Firstly, I've not see all that many people that 'hate' us, alot of them have their issues with America that are usually fairly accurate, and the ones that do dont seem to have the slightest problem saying it outright.
I'd say 'Hate' is a strong word to use no matter what, anyone who lumps all americans together is still misguided anyways(as is anyone who lumps any entire country together, oh and excellent essay Paz).
I was just taking the opportunity to poke fun at someone who seemed to think America literally just went around bombing anyone we didnt like, as it is slightly more complicated than that. Im pretty sure you made me sound stupid(er) by quoting me.
Also they never listen to my recommendations as to who to bomb.

Well, you luckily haven't seen the things that I have on other forums. And I didn't make you sound dumb by quoting you, I like what you said-my view is similar but with a little more anger behind it.:nono:

Can't remember where I read this now but it seemed interesting: that Ahmadinejad realises that the prospect of Iran being invaded pushes up the price of oil, and is being deliberately confrontational in order to spook up prices and profit.
Dangerous but cunning!

Interesting, perhaps oil companies are pushing Bush to jack up the intensity on his side to make more money too. Over the last few years I've slowly warmed up to the idea that the conspiracy nuts may actually be on to something.
BTW-did anyone notice how gas prices dropped right before the elections?
