Originally posted by Mehrunes Never happened to me. I became so preoccupied with saving up ammo that limited ammo types became non-options unless I had a full supply. I almost never used the 20mm HE rounds. By the time I would pick up a GEP gun I always had a full supply of rockets, which nullified just about every locked door or chest from that point on. Augs stayed
off until I had a good supply of biolectric cells. And throughout most of the game I had a full stock of both them and health packs. Ammo management pretty much just limited my choices to the stealth pistol or the sniper rifle, and turned the game's balance upside-down later on when I was a walking arsenal and assault bots, MiBs and anything that even dared to be locked was barely even a minor annoyance.
Right, you didnt get his results, but you see what did happen for you was in itself a playstyle resulting from limited weapon specific ammo.
(BTW my first and second runs through DX1 went like that. unitentional packrat, was so afraid of running out of stuff in limited supply i never used it.)

Some of my most memorable gaming moments in Goldeneye were when I had decided to hoard rockets for the launcher at the Severnaya Weapons Base Facility and after the level was over instead of reaching the extract zone I'd unload four or five rockets straight up and switch to a SMG and wait the thirty or forty seconds before they came crashing down. IMO, unified ammo was an XBox related decision pure and simple. I don't hate consoles but goddamnit I wish they wouldn't make game players equate gaming with beer and pizza and buddies on the sofa with metal music on (unless it's tekken or soul calibre). PC games may be complicated, but you know what? Tweaking is FUN!!!

Explain. Prior art does not support your conclusion.

Rockets never run out of fuel and never fall.

a possible reason for Universal Ammo
I've got one: how about the devs made a fcuking crap design decision?
