I'm really glad they decided to go with a terminator eye, as this will look really kewl when watching the much anticipated "chain attacks" from the 3rd-person point of view.
Such an inappropriate, Ai-alerting eye, which will surely signify the corrupt conception of a lesser pretender.

"How do the eye-drops work?
This is the iconic thing of Garrett, the hooded figure with the scar on the eye. The original series he had a mechanical eye, he could zoom in and stuff like that, so we wanted to keep that image, that icon, character trait. But it also has something to do with the story, which we're not going into at this point. But it relates to the mysticism, the overlay, that makes him a little more unique."No more clockwork mechanical eye?...What a shame they betray the lore of THIEF...:(
"This is the iconic thing of Garrett, the hooded figure with the scar on the eye."That is not the iconic thing of Garrett...only a superficial perspective...which is pathetic...

No - Garrett's eye is not mechanical. He receives his special ability to focus (related to his eye) in a significant story beat early in the game (sorry, no spoilers)

At least this time people won't be calling the color of the eye glow "XBox Green", like they did with TDS. The trailer shows the eye off and igniting on, so that's new.
Some people think it's a Splinter Cell thing where it's a HUD-like indicator to let 3rd-person players know it's active that only players can see, but that doesn't make enough sense. We need to know what the eye can do or not, on or off, first, that 3rd-Person players need that info.

Karras made it, all the other mechanical eyes he made glow a bit, it glowed in the last game, and it kinda glowed dully before that. Vae, what do you do with the three answers you get for each of these useless polls?
june gloom on 3/4/2013 at 00:10
Finally a poll that isn't blatant, loaded, trolling. Though I do question the wisdom of making so many polls anyway.
Regarding the topic -- I'm not sure it really matters whether his eye glows or not.

Of course! I couldnt place it as it kept eluding me!! I kept thinking, what in the hell does that remind me of?! The Terminator!!!

Yes, at least there will be an inappropriate white l.e.d.-like effect, rather than the inappropriate green variation.

The poll is clear and balanced, and will provide quick-referenced, quantified feedback of community sentiment...You should strive better to understand the value of this.

Except where people fight the system, it will provide something to point to when people squawk about citations needed, especially years from now when people are still arguing about the same things, and derpy guys claim things weren't so bad back at this time.

Nah. This is going through the same thing every other game released has gone through.
Deus Ex? I used to post on the Eidos boards occasionally back then. When the demo came out, you'd think someone killed someone's mother. It was horrible. The graphics were crap. The levels were huge and empty. It ran like a two legged dog. Hopes and dreams were crushed.
Now everyone compares everything to it.
Invisible War? Yeah. Okay. All the bitching was justified for that one. Shouldn't have brought it up.
Human Revolution? People watched a trailer or two and said it looked so bad, it made IW look good. People were expecting linear levels the size of a shoebox, constant cutscenes (cuz comeon, Square Enix) and crap gameplay. I think mentions of "games like Deus Ex don't sell to the masses" and "I'm a special snowflake who demands special snowflake games" were brought up a couple of times.
...then the game leaked a few months before it released, and just about everyone loved it. Barring a few issues (boss fights), it just about everything one would expect from a Deus Ex sequel. It ended up moving millions of copies, proving that, yes, Deus Ex does sell to the masses.
Now? New Thief. The cycle begins anew.

It's NuThief, thank you!...
Your argument is strewn with over-generalization, which obfuscates jtr's point, Renz...As in this case, there will be a lasting, quantified, quick-reference to a specific aspect.
