OK FELLOWS,
Last time, I had only bad news. Now I only have good news:
> It think I made my exams pretty well.
> File Front is back, so I will upload my file the day after tomorrow (I'm bussy tomorrow).
> My MOD is still on PC (nobody stole it or something).
Since my MOD is coming soon, I might as well tell you this:
MY MOD ONLY WORKS IF YOU HAVE REMOVED ALL THE IBT FILES (YES, ALL OF THEM).
So, go to Thief - Deadly Shadows\Contents\T3\Maps and REMOVE ALL IBT FILES.

Hi,
This is a question to Clearing and Brethren (but if someone else can answer it, it's fine too).
1) What in heavens name is "FTP"?!
2) How does a FTP work (so.. how should I put my MOd in that internet-PC thingy?).
I hope you can answer this, because I can't suceed uploading it.
Bye,
Tony.

FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol" and is a means of file transfer that's existed for many many years. (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ftp) has some technical info that you probably don't care about.
The main issue is that it provides for uploads and file management in ways that you can't really accomplish with the usual web protocols, and that makes it convenient for sending big files or for managing a remote web site. For example, you can upload things to thiefmissions.com using FTP. I also have a web upload form, but it never works as well.
There's an FTP client built into windows, but you have to use it from the command line and it's not really easy to use. I think you can get a nice free FTP client program from (
http://filezilla-project.org).
And, even though you didn't contact me, I'll be more than happy to help you get your mission uploaded to thiefmissions, or I'll fetch it from whatever other site it might appear at.
Edit: I just installed filezilla on my Windows machine and had no problems uploading files to thiefmissions; it was a pretty simple process.

Thanks, epithumia
However, I'm making a MOD, not a FM. It seems don't many people miss, this, even though it's written in capitals. And my MOD is 234 MB (quite large, if you ask me). I have been geven an FTP adress to put my MOD in. But what I need to know is: How can I put my MOD in this? Is it just copy and paste? Or does it require more?
Bye,
Tony.

Yes! If you have a client you just have to copy and paste it there. But hurry!! We all are impatient to try your great work :thumb:

If someone is giving you ftp space, then you really need to learn what the heck ftp is before you can do anything with it. Depending on what ftp program you use, you can certainly drag and drop to where you need it to go.

Well, I am glas that people like to see my MOD, and also to help me out. Yes, someone did indeed give me an FTP adress (if you can call it that) to put my MOD in. I saw quite normal folder like Program Files. Of-course, I didn't look into it for privacy reasons.
Another change: I tweaked all light colors and radius distance, so that the lighting in this game looks more like modern games (like Oblivion). But don't expect Super-Next-Gen lighting, because (as you know) I'm just an amateur.
I will try out that FTP, and search on the internet for an FTP program.

Well, I did give you a link to a nice FTP program. Works just fine; I used it to connect to thiefmissions and upload a file with a minimum of fuss.
You are welcome to PM me for explicit instructions if you like; it's not really all that hard. The simple instructions are to start your FTP client, enter "uploads.thiefmissions.com" as the site, "ftp" as the user and anything you want as the password. Click through the directory listing to to "/pub/incoming/thief", click the "upload" button, select the file you want to send, and wait for it to upload (which may take a while, since it's a really big file). That should be it.
I'm not really sure what the difference between an FM and a MOD is, nor do I particularly care; I didn't use "FM" anywhere in the message I wrote. However, if you think that for whatever reason your MOD doesn't belong at thiefmissions.com then I'll accept that.

Thanks, epithumia, I wil try that out.

Well....no. If it's just a modification I wouldn't want to get the editor as well. That's app. 300MB (or even 500?) extra and makes it bigger without any necessity.
