GarrettLoader anyone?
I mean, if his problem is that he doesn't want people to have to remove things by hand, but also doesn't want the originals to be over-written by a patch then isn't it the easy solution, or am I missing something here?
One of the main things it does is back-up and restore files with the same name as in the "mod" when that gets installed/deleted. I know it's not a "mission" as such, but still, I'm pretty sure it could be tricked into acting as an instal/uninstall for something like this...

Tony, I'm really not sure what answer you're looking for here. You've been told exactly how to prepare this mod for release. There's really nothing more we can tell you.
Create the custom IBT's as described in the instructions you've been directed to. Then create the self extracting patch I told you about. This should keep the installation simple and small. It will also allow people to uninstall it and restore their previous installation afterward.
We can't make it any clearer.

Hello,
In order to make my this MOD smaller and easier, I have removed Jhon-P's Textures from my MOD. Only my Textures are left. (That's about 10 MB of Textures). Now, all the changed files together are about 90MB big. Compressed is about 50MB. That's a big dirrence, isn't it?
However, If I include my editor in my MOD, it's up to 400 MB. So about 310 MB is just waste.
The MOD'S smaller, but I still need a solution to this dillema:
>Should I exclude the editor from my MOD to save space, but then expect people to download the Editor on their own?
OR
>Should I include the editor in my MOD, but waste a lot of space.
Bye,
Tony

HELLO,
Nobody gave me instructions to make costum IBT Files. Otherwise I would I have give it a thought (which I always do with new ideas).
By the way: Can't I just send my changed files to an experienced person? Maybe he/she can do something usefull.
Regards,
Tony.

Yes, you have been given instructions.

You only need to enable WriteBlockFiles or something in the user.ini, start playing every mission in T3Ed, get the autoplay.ibt from where TDS stores the savegames, rename it to fit the *.unr map name, "export map for game" to create a matching *.gmp map. Do this for every map, in the end include also the Kernel.ibts that are created everytime, create a folder structure just like in TDS or any TDS FM, throw in the maps, Kernels, GameSys and everything else listed in e.g. Komag's tutorial in the end (you can skip all the parts referring to objectives and enter/exit mission actors) and zip it up. No editor required, no extra textures (they are in the ibts), just like a simple FM. If you start accepting that (creating and) shipping altered ibt files is so much easier for you and anyone who's supposed to play it... everyone will be fine.Aside from that....the answers you need are all located in the editing wiki. You have to take the time to read and figure this stuff out Tony.

Here is the tutorial on how to generate IBT's.

Is this correct?
Regards,

:ebil:
Yup, as long as you make sure everything is working in your patched install before you use patchwise, that will be correct.

I have just generated my first IBT File: Aulale1.ibt and Tutorial5.ibt
There is a problem: So, I load the map (generates IBT automatically thanks to user.ini), and than exit the map. When I exit the map (and the IBT File has been generated) my PC crashes. I'm not going to let my PC crash all the time. That's not good.
I guess I'm just going to go back to the old way: Ask the player to download the editor (which is not so difficult).
Stupid IBT FILES!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Why don't you ask if anyone else has had the same problem and if they were able to fix it? If it's crashing, then there has to be an issue somewhere with your PC choking on T3Ed for some reason. Stay focused on the goal man, for goodness sake. The human race got through living in caves, stone knives and bearskins, I'm sure you can get through this.
So if you reboot and try again, does it still crash? I mean, you've gotten that many ibt's generated, is it going to hurt to crash your computer to generate the rest? :D Seriously, is it really that bad to have to do that to get this done? There aren't that many missions in TDS. Really though, if you ask people to download the editor just to play your mod, it's not going to get played. Sorry, just being honest.
If you are totally against having your computer crash, ask someone here if they will create the ibt's for you. I don't have the time to do it, but I can provide you with an FTP space to upload them.

There is a person who - just a few days ago - did offer help. If he/she can generate IBT Files, maybe he can help. Also, John-p used an IBT Patcher. Maybe he knows how to patch not only textures, but also skeletalanimations...maybe.

Tony Ayalew.
P.S.: As for the cave story: It took hundreds of years for man kind to solve that particular problem. :eww:
