I guess it would be better to check it first on some clean T3 install. I'm assuming Tony hasn't done it yet. This way you'd see whether all the necessary modifications have been included in the zip file. Btw. if we are about to remove all .ibt files, I'm with Beleg on this one, we'd have to rebuild those, but from what? Editor .unr files?

Ladies and gentlemen,
No editor required.

OK, I will repeat it: I have made a RTF file wich tells you what to do in a simple English language that any one older than ten year old can understand which is based on a 9 time full test of my mod on Thief 3. OK
:bored::confused::devil::ebil::grr:

Judith, IBT Files are just small packages for the Editor. And, I always play Thief without IBt Files: Makes it easier to test things.

P.S.: I have just installed an FTP client - what now?

Create new ones I guess. :weird:
Still, this is a bit strange (and we're probably less confuesd than you might think, Tony). If it's a mod for T3 you better provide new ibt files which in the end results in less MB than asking the users to 1. download T3Ed, 2. download your extra content and 3. create new mission files themselves.
If it's on the other hand interesting content for us T3 mappers, you'd be better of with providing only necessary files and tutorials (and demos!) so we can re-build this in our missions. But at the moment you're either trying to sell a Thief 3 mod to a community largely unable/unwilling to download all the MB and do complicated stuff with it...... or you're trying to sell us T3Edders a funny mod that we will surely not use completely, but which would mess up all our directories which are two things that'll keep us from installing it.
And to make it sound less negative: We'd really like to see your changes in a demo and would be glad if we could use some of the stuff in our own FMs. :)
What are you talking about?

I'm dissappointed by your trust to me... You think I don't test my MODs? You think me a fool?
Yes, I'm 17,
yes, I'm an amateur,
BuT I'm not crazy!
Tony, I suggest you cool down and actually listen to what these 'HIGHLY EXPERIENCED' T3ED mappers are saying. They're telling you that there is a better way to release this mod than how you're attempting to do it. Nobody thinks you're a fool, they're trying to help. So calm down, listen to their advice because they're trying to help you.
The way you're releasing these files is overly complicated. Why don't you ASK these kind people HOW you can release the files more easily? In the end, this is going to make your mod easier to use and more people will be happy to play it.

SORRY.
Hey, I just got an idea: Does anyone know a free screen recorder? I have Fraps, but it's limited to 30 seconds. That way, I can show it!

Tony, check e-mail.
Beleg Cúthalion on 24/4/2009 at 15:34
A couple of 30-sec-Fraps videos sewn together are OK I think.
Using no ibt files only works (if it works at all) because you have JohnP textures in PCTextures\Dynamically Loaded. Usually these ibts contain everything you need to play (objects, textures, scripts etc. etc.), so if it works for you I can only imagine that this comes from running the game from a sort of editor install. That appears to me a little like driving in a car with the bonnet open. Plus, usually this playing-from-T3Ed takes longer (loading times etc.) than running the ibt-based game.
It's not that nobody trusts that it worked for you, it's just overly complicated for normal T3 players (Komag's tutorial is easy to read as well and still there are only few who try T3Ed) and we're not quite sure yet how it works. And what it does in the first place.

It's not about trust, it's just that there are a few experienced people here and we'd like to know how it's done from a technical standpoint. An .IBT file isn't small at all (at least not when we're talking about a standalone FM with a lot of custom content), and it contains basically everything needed to play your FM - textures, scripts, meshes, the whole level layout. If you can do without .IBTs in the custom fm package, that might be an improvement of some sort, reducing the FM zip size significantly.
The fact is, if you just delete your .ibt files from your fresh T3 install, you get CTD right after the copyrights.
