A new guy and his wrench. - by OneoftheLost

Hya. Just wanted to give my thanks, and ask a few questions.
Basically I have been hearing about this System Shock 2 game for-EVER. Never got around to looking for it. Fortunatly for me, a friend lended me his copy, and a manual. So I installed....and well, you guessed it, I had problems. I found this site via google, and man, the FAQ thread was AMAZING. Managed to stop the random crashing (Dual Core problem.) And fixed the video crashing (Cutscene path placed wrong in original install.) Not only this, but in that FAQ it points to Strangebedfellows and the Fan missions, as well as the High-Res Envirement Mod, as well as the High-res Enemies and corpses. Now my happy self is playing my favorite game of all time. Oblivion, Half-Life 2, Halo 2, Battlefield 2, C&C 3 Tiberium Wars. These games are nothing. System shock 2 is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. WAAAAAAAY ahead of its time. But that is not the point, Im sure you all have your own views, Im also sure not all of you think its the best game of all time. (Well it is, get over it.)
Again, that is not the point. I have a few questions. (Non-spoiler.)
1.) To fix the cutscene error I just removed the stupid cutscene folder. (Its sooo much easier taht way. Unfortunatly I don't know what order to watch the movies in.....Im afraid to watch in case of spoilers. Here's what I have determined.
Intro->cs1->(Shuttle, station, those numerous ones in between year service.)->cs2. Im assuming Cs3 is the final so I havnt watched it yet.
This correct? I don't want to watch them in the wrong order.
2.) Multiplayer. Is it like a co-op? I scanned the multiplayer thread, does it add more enemies, cause otherwise it would be really easy.......
3.) I'm running a marine right now, got high agility, maintanance, standard weapons, and working on my Hack skill. With my other charector I started the research skill, will my marine need it later? All it seems to do is give me extra dmge to certain enemies.....
Thanks for your time!

Could you please link to the image instead of directly placing it here because it really fucks up the scrolling :o

Then why would there be a forum about it? ;)

Yes, the forum rules are to keep inline images at sizes of 640x480 or less, so they don't make the forum side-scroll for people running lower resolutions.
1)
intro.avi - Irrational and Looking Glass Studios logos
cs1.avi - intro
cs2.avi - between the last training mission and the start of the game
cs3.avi - ending cutscene at the very end of the game.
The rest are for interludes in the training.
2)
Yes, multiplayer is cooperative.
3)
Research allows you to use certain items later in the game, which cannot be used untli you have researched them and learned what they are.

AVI?
Nameless Voice on 7/4/2007 at 14:34
Yes, they are .avi files. I don't understand the question.
Do you have file extensions turned off? :weird:

No - mine are a different extension - IIRC, of course.

That's strange, they should be .avi files. It's very unlikely that SS2 will play them if they're not...
