So long it has been since I last stepped foot in the land of Vvardenfell. So long it has been since I have explored the massiveness that is the island. So long that I have forgotten much of what I knew. So I decide it was time to fetch Morrowind from the adobe of my friend and start my adventures anew. However, before I did that I knew I would need something new in Morrowind, for I knew as soon as I stepped off that boat my brain would instant recall every map, AI position, weapons, armor, everything I once knew about the game would be recalled and my "new" experience in Morrowind wouldn't be all that new. (Does that happen to anyone else? The inability to forget things?)
So I ventured off to the vastness that is the Morrowind Modding community and wadded through hundreds of mod (my the community has grown) looking for the gems. I still remember quite a bit about modding and mods so I knew what I was looking for, quests, new lands, npcs, small tweaks remember erking me. So after two days of venturing through that mass I came out a bit tired but with a handful of good mods; namely texture replacers and head and hair packs, plus a few new landmasses (ok only one, plus a total conversion [that should be fun])
So I meandered over to my friends house and demanded that he return my Morrowind game lest he be struck down my the all mighty Builder (well, not quite like that) Within minutes I had my good old Morrowind cd in my hand and after a brief chat with my friend I was off. Returning from my quest I plopped Morrowind into my cd drive and began to install. Next came Tribunal, then Bloodmoon. Now that the game was completely installed I decided to pop in my mod cd. About a day later  I had all the mods in, checked for errors, patched up to date, combined, checked for errors again and I was all set. I put in Morrowind, check my mods, and click "Play"
Soon enough I find myself in a familiar position, standing on the boat in Seyda Neen. What this though? Seyda Neen is bigger? There is a massive ship yard off behind me, there appears to me a few more buildings in the distance too? Sweet! So I go off and make my custom character and venture out into the the once small town of Syden Nean.
Wow, this place has changed. Holy crap there are NPCs every where! Wow look at their faces! All of them are different!! w00t! \o/ So I wander about talking to NPC after NPC and very few of them say the same thing! Most of them have unique dialog! Some even give me a quest or two that not even my super-brain-of-remembering can remember! Yay! New content!
To make a very long story short (jesus look how long my post is already!)
Morrowind is a whole new game now. almost every NPC has a new face, and the faces are really real looks, none of those crappy original faces. Most every NPC has something unique to say. Lots of them now give me quest. Some of them even want to be my friends and travel with me (omg! no more lonely ranger!) Those NPC and face mods have really added to the game. Every town seems more alive as there are now random NPCs walking about. Dunno how it works but when your in a town there are new NPCs that are nothing special (no name no cool dialog) but they are just things like "Warrior" ( a dude dressed in armors and such) or Rouge" (another guy dressed in light armors and some even have quivers!) and even things like "Local" and "Whore" (lol) There are even random merchants selling wears!
Wow. That's just the tip too.
I've seen tons of new dungeons, been on a bunch of new quest, some towns have been changed about making them better, found lots of new little toys (nothing uber so that's a plus) everything i once wished of the game is now part of the game. Its amazing. All I can say is that I am awe struck at how the modding community has grown and has developed so well to produce these amazing mods that adds tons to this game. Normally after my super-brain-of-remembering has played a game a few times nothing is new and it gets rather boring (hence my friend having Morrowind for over a year and a half) but with these mods the game seems almost new. There is so much to do and see now.
Plus I still have two brand new landmasses to explore!
Anyways in closing I'd just like to say that if you have Morrowind but don't play it anymore, go out and find so mods. You'll be stunned at how many there are now. Find some good ones that add things you want (be sure to get the face mods, texture mods, and npc add ones) and you'll be in a new game. If you feel so inclined drop me a line and ask me what mods I've got on, the ones I have make Morrowind a thousand time better.
All I can say really is wow. I think Morrowind caught me in another spell again! :cheeky: :erm:

i have to disagree with you, when i take a break then go back in its mroe boreing than before, even with mods. But you seem happy :) congrats for not being me!

Aye, indeed the main game is boring. I've been through the main quest and many of the side quest a good 4 or 5 times now. The reason I'm happy is because the mods I downloaded added new quests, dungeons, and such.
I'm am also an avid role-player so those NPC mods add untold enjoyment to my game. Now it seems that the NPCs are real. My Ranger is no longer the only person adventuring in Vvardenfell. There are random adventures strewn about the land. Some attack me(some are even much better then me, making me run in fear from them, thats a new one for me) some travel from place to place, some are groups of adventures (groups as in healer, archer warrior.. etc all traveling together) wandering about, even raiding tombs.
The NPC stuff is really what does it for me.

Would you happen to remember the mods that added new land masses? Thanks
shadowthief on 2/8/2004 at 00:06
Borimer: One of them is Sword Of The Perithia. It is a total conversion that requires you to start a new game. I've got a character running through it now. I'm not all that far but so far so good. You can find it (
http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/modcontrols/mods_full.asp) here
The other one is called Velayia. It is another landmass to the west of Morrowind. It is inhabbited by woodelves and orcs. Apparently some kind of war is going to happen. Don't know for sure as I haven't been there yet. Again you can get it at the (
http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/modcontrols/mods_full.asp) Summit
Sad thing is you can't run both of these at the same time as they would overlap and cause problems.
Another thing is that Sword Of The Perithia has to be run free of almost all other mods. I managed to get a few running without any problems, mainly face mods, so there is hope.

Meh.... if memory serves me correctly (which it seldom does at times), Kailonn is the one who in another thread says there isn't any difference between Diablo2 and Morrowind...... ack! sorry, the thought of that chokes me up to this day.
Sadly I can't mod my Morrowind (XBox version), thankfully even though I've got a pretty good memory, I haven't quite played it to death yet, so I've still got lots of play-time with it, and I've only just started scratching the surface of the Tribunal quests.

Eh, it's possible to install mods onto an XBox version of Morrowind, I think, but there are a lot of problems in doing so. I'm not sure how to do it, I just wandered into a discussion about importing new face mods into the XBox version.
I played SoP a while ago. Very cool, and also challenging. Just wait until you get near the end, you'll see what I'm talking about. Search the forums for 'Rashman' and you can read about my wonderful start (second thread.)

I've heard of this, however I think it requires modding the XBox first... hacking at the very least.
I'll upgrade the PC eventually and pickup a copy of the GOTY for it... by then I should have worn out my XBox DVD :D

I was tempted to buy Morrowind again, the thought of turning the world to darkness (Vampires' Embrace- create a legion of dark children) was appealling.
But I am saving myself for Fable.
Why, it has chickens in it. You can kill them, kick them and a whole lot more.
It's like Dungeon Keeper 2 all over again.
